chapter 3 ✽hugs and q&a's

"what were you two doing inside?" Brennen asked when we walked in, and everyone in the room began to laugh. at one point, Zach ran upto us and winked at both Mario and I. "you can tell me what you did in there, I won't tell anyone," he whisper yelled, though practically everyone in the room heard him.

"we- I- umm.." I trailed off, faking nervousness. I struggled to hold my laughter in when everyone fell for it.

".. I asked Beth out on a date," Mario said quickly, almost stumbling on his words. I just assumed that he was acting and going along with my plan.

half of the room began to aww, and the other half turned to stare at us in shock.

"what?" I laughed. why was everyone so surprised?

"it's just.. we never thought Mario would ever get a girlfriend," retorted Nick. "we thought he'd be single for the rest of his life."

"thanks Nick," Mario muttered sarcastically.

"my baby, you're finally growing up," Weston fake sobbed, latching onto Mario's arm.

Mario and I sat down side by side on one of the sofas; the sofas were pretty uncomfortable so I ended up laying on his shoulder, and he put his arm around me out of instinct. we stayed like that for almost an hour since we were both exhausted and couldn't be bothered to move at all. in that time, everyone constantly filmed and photographed us, posting them on social media: soon, the Our Journey fandom was going crazy all over Twitter and Instagram.

"pretend I said something really cute," Mario whispered into my ear out of no where, sending shivers all down my spine.

I fake giggled and whispered back "deez nuts" into his ear. he turned red from trying to keep his laughter in, though everyone mistaked it for blushing.

"I'm going to get you back for that," he whispered back in my ear, smirking.

Ariel turned to us. "let's create a ship name for you two."

I shrugged and Mario nodded, so everyone just began to shout out any ship name that they could come up with.

" ..Bario?"

" ..Meth?"

" ..is what you're on," Weston mumbled under his breath.

" ..Bethio?"

" ..Marth?"

everyone finally decided on 'meth', though Mario and I's personal favourite was Bethio. everyone had gotten a little bored and was now having their own private conversations.

"what shall we do? I'm boredddd," I shouted in Mario's ear, making him jump.

"lets's set up public social media accounts for you, if you're cool with that..?" he suggested, and I nodded. I mean, if I was to be his 'girlfriend', I was going to need public accounts too.

"yeah, we'll make an instagram and a twitter, but I've already got a public musical.ly" I replied. I didn't post musical.ly's but I liked to follow everyone on there. we decided that these accounts would be enough for now, and just named all of the accounts @/bubblegumbeth because we have no creativity at all. (author's note: I don't know who actually owns these accounts so yeah)

us girls (Ariel, Ariana, Sara and I) were hanging out and talking about random girly things, when Mario came and dragged me away from the group.

"what do you need bro?" I asked him, and he gasped, mumbling "bro? did I just get family zoned? I thought we were dating. anyway, do you want to be in a q&a video with me?"

I nodded, then frowned. "but we haven't told anyone that we're dating- I mean, fake dating," I panicked.

"relax a little. everything we do doesn't have to be based around this 'fake relationship'. I actually want to become good friends with you too- I meant it when I said that you were going to get a friend out of me." he smiled warmly at me, and I smiled back.

Mario tweeted for his followers to send in questions for us to answer and we set up the camera and the tripod while the questions poured in.

"hey, what's up guys? so I was at Vidcon all day and it only just ended, so I don't really have time to film a proper video, but I still wanted to upload. that's why I'm doing a q&a today.. with my (extra) special guest.." he trailed off, pointing at me so that I could introduce myself.

"heyyyy, I'm Beth," I dragged out, waving at the camera lens.

"I asked you guys to ask me some questions using the hashtag #askmarioandguest, and we're going to be answering some of them," he continued, explaining how the video was going to go.

"question number one is from Victoria, and she says 'do you have any hobbies?'" Mario read off his phone.

(for this part, I am just going to write their names, followed by what they say- just because it would be too long if I did it normally, and you'd get bored❁)

Mario: my hobbies are creating videos, singing, playing the piano, acting, dancing and I used to play sports but not any more. making musical.ly's- that's a good hobby.. right?

Beth: I like to do a lot of sports. mainly jumping to conclusions, carrying things too far, and pushing my luck.

Mario: Haley asked which social media we would give up (if we had to give up one) and why. for me it would definitely be twitter because sometimes I just don't know what to tweet and I just tweet random things.

Beth: yeah same. cause I don't have any followers and I feel like a loser on Twitter. hit me up on Twitter y'all.

Mario: the next question is from Ari and she's asking 'if you had to eat one food forever, what would that food be?'

Beth: a subway chicken tikka footlong with southwest sauce. oh my god it tastes so good. Mario, let's go and buy subway after we finish filming this video.

Mario: as long as you're paying. and Ari, that food would be popcorn- it's an inside joke.

Mario: @/daisyselman asks 'what was your first social media account?' mine was Instagram, I think.

Beth: I'm pretty sure mine was Wattpad- since I'm completely obsessed with reading.

Mario: do you read fanfiction about me? I bet you do.

Beth: shh Mario, no I don't.

"and finally, the last question is from Mila. she asked, I quote, 'what the hell is #meth and why is it trending on twitter?'" Mario retorted, giggling a little at the end. him and I just turned to stare at each other, and we both burst out laughing (and didn't stop for the next 2 minutes). "I think now is a good time to end the video." he chuckled, and I nodded.
