Maggie's POV

I woke up with sore eyes and a tear-stained face. I cautiously crept into my parents' room to find them gone. The events of yesterday came flooding back to me. They're gone. And they're not coming back. I made a half-assed attempt to put on some decent clothes but then settled on my bathing suit. I half heartedly made myself breakfast but ended up just banging my head on the table every five minutes. I heard a knock on the door and yelled, "I don't care who it is just come in." I hear footsteps and then I see my friend Serenity walk into the kitchen. "I'm really sorry about what happened, Maggie." She walked up to me and hugged me tight. I hugged her back and we stood there for a few minutes. "Look I made this for you." She held up a yarn bracelet with a chevron pattern. It was both hers and my favorite colors. She was wearing a matching one. She slipped it over my wrist and hugged me again. "Friends, no matter what. No matter what happens, we will always be there for each other." I smiled weakly and hugged her back. I looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost noon. "Oh! I have to get going. I'm supposed to meet up with someone!" I said as I grabbed a towel and put on my flip flops. "Be careful." She told me. "I will." I reassured her. When I reached the cove I found both Eridan and Cronus waiting there. I sat down my stuff and hugged Eridan tight. "Hey, you ok?" He asked quietly. I shook my head. "Wwhat's wwrong?" "My parents..... They died in a car accident yesterday." I half said half sobbed. "I hate my life." I said and hugged him tighter. "I don't want to be a human anymore. Being a human is sucking really badly right now." He looked down at me and lifted my chin up. "I might knoww howw to fix that." He said quietly. "How-" I was cut off by his lips smashing against mine. I didn't realize how much I had wanted him to do that. I returned the kiss and I could tell it was sincere and heartfelt all the way through. I felt a tingling sensation all over my body. When we finally let go of each other I went to put a hand behind my head and felt my hand hit something. It felt like a cone, but it was swirled. There was one on the other side too. I looked down and saw that instead of legs I had a long aquamarine tail. I felt my neck and sure enough, I had gills. There was also webbing between my fingers. "Wha-" I started and I looked at Eridan. He looked just as confused as I was. Without warning I tackled him and we both fell into the he water. I started to panic but realized I could breathe. I kissed Eridan again. "Thank you so much!" I said and hugged him. "You're wwelcome. And Maggie?" "Hmm?" "Wwill you be my matesprit?" "Yes. I will." I answered happily. All three of us swam back to their house. It was a sunken pirate ship, and it looked really cool. We went inside and it looked really similar to a human household. Eridan and I sat on the couch and I leaned on him. I ended up falling asleep on him. I was happy and so was he.
