Maggie's POV

I was swimming around the docks when I saw someone passing over it. I poked my head out of the water, making sure I was hidden. I hear the person sigh and I go under the dock. "Why would she just disappear like that?" Wait. I knew that voice. It was Serenity, or Reny as I called her. I swam a bit closer. "I really hope she didn't go out into the ocean again. I don't know what I'd do if she was killed by mers." She shuddered. Oh, yeah. I remembered that Reny is batshit scared of mers. I suddenly had an idea. One of her legs was hanging off the dock, and it was low enough that I could reach it. I quietly swam forward and grabbed her leg. "OMYGOD SOMETHINGS GRABBING ME!" She yelled and her voice cracked right in the middle of it. I busted out laughing. "W-who's there?" She stuttered. I swam out from under the docks, still laughing. "That was hilarious! Now I see why Eridan liked to do it so much!" "G-get away from me." She said, her voice full of alarm. Oh I forgot about her fear. I stopped laughing immediately and swam closer. I jumped up and sat next to her. She was too scared to move. I look at her and then at myself. "Oh come on I'm not that scary." I said. Her fear turned to confusion when I didn't attack her. "Reny it's me." Aaaand she's terrified again. "H-how do you know my nickname? The only people who know that are my parents and..." She stopped. "And in 3, 2, 1-" "MAGGIE!" She yelled and hugged me. "How on earth are you a mer?!" She asked in confusion and amazement. "I had to kiss another mer. He should be coming soon." As if on cue Eridan popped his head out of the water. Reny hid behind me but I pulled her back out. "Dude, he doesn't bite. Chill." I told her. "Maggie, wwho's this?" He asked as he jumped up to sit on her other side. "This is Serenity. She's my human friend. And my bestie!" I held up the bracelet she made me a month ago. "Y-you still have it?" She asked, holding up her own. "Why wouldn't I? We made a promise!" I said cheerfully. She seemed to relax a little. "So who's this?" She asked pointing to Eridan. "That's my matesprit, Eridan." "Matesprit?" "It's havvin a girlfriend or boyfriend." Eridan answered her. "Wait he's the one who turned you into a mer?" She asked. "Yup. I don't regret it either." My fin-like ears puffed out in contentment. "Woah. So you have like, gills and everything?" "Yup. I've also got webs." I held up my hand. "Woah. That is cool." She continued to talk until I shooshed her. "Let's go somewhere more private. Come on." Eridan and I jumped back into the water. Reny hesitated. "I'm still able to push you in, you know." I told her. "Alright alright I'm going!" She jumped in and I held her up. She clung to me and I sighed. We swam over to the cove and we talked for hours. We did some catching up and talked about various other things. We didn't even notice the boat sitting not too far away from us.

"There's a violet blood and an aqua blood. The aqua blood is maimed. They don't seem to be attacking the human."
"Good. That'll make our job easier. Those two colors are rare, and we could make a lot of money off of them."
"When should we move?"
"Not now. We must wait until the two are alone."
