"Will! Where are you!?"
"Now is not a good time to call."
"What's that noise in the background?"
"I've just arrived at the laboratory."
"What!?"
Xander was left in silence as Will hung up. Suddenly, he heard a knock on the front door. He ran out the back door to his car and drove through his backyard to avoid being seen by anyone at the front.
It felt surreal to return to the place where he had left so fearfully just three days before. Guilt and dread flooded the air as he hesitantly approached the laboratory doors.
