Its A Cruel World (Book 1 Completed)

Chapter 4

As we walk through the camp and eat I grab some food and take it out to the guys. I didn't think I was supposed but we were running low and I figured they were really hungry.
"Mmmm. This is SO good. Cat I would marry you right now" doc says and I laugh. "Thanks but keep it on the down low. I don't think I was supposed to." I say and sit next to 10k. "I think they go without a few sandwiches" he says and I laugh.

All of a sudden the girls walk out of the door with some guns and a girl with scraps and bruises on her face. "Hey cat, you coming. Helen is gonna take us and show us to find the other girls." Addy says and I nod. We leave and come up with a plan to get the guys that took the girls.

"Why do we gotta do it?" I ask Addy. "Probably cause were the hottest" she says and we laugh. "Alright" I say and we sit on the truck with the hood open. A couple minutes pass by and a few guys drive by. "Hey, you need some help" one asks. I see two girls ties up in the back and then look at the man angrily. We talk for a second and he starts to tell us what to do. The rest of the girls jump outs and hold them at gun point.

"I'm guessing you girls didn't go with them willingly" she says to the girls. They shake there heads and I sit on the hood of the car and watch. They take the girls and help them as they chain up the others. Helen hands Addy a gun and tells her to shoot one of them. "What?" I yell getting up. "They hurt these women. They deserve it. "This is murder" I say and Addy aims the gun at one of there head. "ADDY DONT" Warren yells. Helen whispers in Addy's war and she pull the trigger. He falls and the stands back up...a zombie. He hisses and jumps at the other guys chained up.

We leave and drive back to the camp. The girls go in but I stay out. "Guys this place isn't right. We need to leave. Now" I say and tell them what we saw. They immediately agree and I go inside to talk to Warren and Addy and they agree too. As we were about to walk about the door Helen caught us. "Where you all going?" She asks. "Uh well we didn't want to over stay our welcome and we really needed to go so..." Warren says but Helen walks closer. "Oh it's okay. We have one more thing" she says and we hesitantly fallow her. We see a bunch of girls standing around a large shed with a man chained up. I couldn't see his face I was to busy thinking about leaving. They open the shed and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Zombie... Bear. They push the man inside and shut the door. I could here growling and the man yelling.

A women then walks up to Helen and whispers something in her ear. Helen then looks at me and yells to the other. "NEXT FOR ATTACK" She yells and they all grab us. The drag me to the front of the shed and hold Addy and Warren back. I yell for them to let go and so do the others.

"Cat. For taking the food that us women work so hard for and feeding it to the enemy. I sentence you to the shed" Helen says and they start to push me in. I scream and scream and Addy and Warren try to help but we're being held back.

10K POV
"We really do need to go. You are not going to believe what I just saw. Two words. Zombie-bear" doc says and we all stand up. Suddenly we hear a scream. It was cat. I start running to the doors. The women one the hills take out there guns and shoot without hesitation. "AHH" I yell as I get shot in the arm. I lush through the doors and grab cat. The women let go Addy and warren and shut the shed door. "A man has entered our camp. Either you all leave RIGHT NOW or you all get the shed." Helen says and everyone stays as far away as possible. Cat runs to me and hold my arm where I was shot and looks at me confused yet happy I jumped in to save her. Women all grab there long sticks and push us out the door.

CATS POV
I help k to doc and doc sees his arm after getting out the bullet. "Hey look..." I say raising my arm. "...Matching scars." I say referring to the stitches I had on my arm from the cut and he smiles. "I love how you can make a joke or of this." He says and I smile. "Look k...I'm sorry. You really didn't have to save me. You could have gotten killed. What were you thinking?" I say to him and lightly hit the back of his head. "I was thinking...you needed help. I told you I would keep you safe. I'll protect you with my life" he says ans I smile. "How did we end up like this? Where did these feelings come from?" I ask. "I don't know. But I don't want them to go away" he says and I smile. "Me either" I say and he kisses me. After doc finishes stitching his arm we hop in the truck and drive away from the camp. Not soon enough if I might add.
