Kyle was sitting in one of the lower branches on the tree, watching as the sun set. Lupa was curled up asleep on the floor, whether because she needed energy for something or because she was exhausted, he didnt know. The black wolf lay curled up next to him, watching the sun as well. Kyle felt tense for some reason, as if something big was going to happen. He decided to focus on something else, and his mind landed on his mum. I havent seen her in a month. I wonder if she's worried. Then something else occured to him. I'm never going to be able to go home. My time with Lupa has altered my life too much for me to continue living with her. I have to protect Lupa from the hunter, and i dont think i would ever get used to just staying at home from now on. I guess i'll have to go back and talk to her about this, then just live in the forest with Lupa. For some reason he liked this idea.
The sun eventually set beneath the horizon. Lupa wke with a yawn and padded over to where Kyle and the black wolf were sitting in the tree. She gave a short yap and both of them looked down. The moon began to rise and Lupa waited calmly, before her body began to change, becoming one of a human girl. She yawned and stretched, then looked up at her mate. "Down," she said. Her mate shrugged and leapt down from the tree, landing easily next to her. The black wolf also leapt down, stretching slightly and shaking out his cramps. Her mate removed his jacket and handed it to her. She took it in confusion before he sighed and helped her into it. "You have to keep warm in this form," he explained.
The boy had given a jacket to the wolf. She took it with a confused expression before he helped her put it on. "You have to keep warm in this form," he said to her, a gentle note in his voice. I could tell he had made his decision. He had accepted that he would have to stay with the wolf from now on. Now was the time to complete my destiny.
The black wolf padded over to Kyle, whining slightly. Kyle looked at him, then knelt down infront of him. "What's up?" he asked. 'Please do not panic,' his eyes seemed to say, then suddenly he layed both of his paws on Kyle's hands and pressed his forehead against Kyle's. Kyle looked at him in confusion, then suddenly everything seemed to change. It flickered between black and white, shifting in and out of focus. To Kyle, it seemed as if the black wolf was starting to sink inside him. He felt as if a part of him he had never knew was missing was now returning, filling him up with energy and power. His senses began to sharpen, smells that he hadnt smelt before coming to him, his sight growing better. Then suddenly everything faded and he collapsed.
Lupa had watched with shock as suddenly the black wolf had become one with her mate. She hadnt known that anything like that was even possible. As the joining finished, her mate collapsed to his side, unconcious. She ran over to him, kneeling down beside him and checking him over. He seemed fine, but she couldnt be sure until he woke up again. She touched his forehead and felt how hot it was. As far as she could tell from her various trips into human settlements, if someone had a hot forehead, then they were ill. But she had no clue what to do when someone was ill. Lupa bit her lip, then curled up beside him to keep him warm. She kept an eye out for danger, determined to protect him.
