Days later, Chris and Gordie still hadn't talked about the kiss. Gordie wanted to, but he knew Chris would avoid the topic. One afternoon, Chris came over to Gordie's house to study, but neither of them spoke of the topic for a long time. After a while, it became unbearable, so Gordie finally spoke up.
"Chris?"
"Yeah?" Chris asked, looking up at Gordie. They were sitting beside each other on the floor with their backs against Gordie's bed.
"We need to talk about it," Gordie said.
"Nope," Chris said, returning to his books.
"But—"
"No," Chris said.
"Chris—"
"Nuh uh."
"But Chris—"
"I'm running out of words that mean no, Gordo," Chris said, laughing.
"Nein," Gordie said.
"That's a number," Chris said.
"It's German for 'no'," Gordie stated.
"Does it look like I speak German?" Chris asked. "Nine is a number." Gordie shook his head and laughed.
"Seriously, Chris, we need to talk about the kiss," Gordie said slowly, feeling slightly awkward when saying the word "kiss".
"Or we could just do it again," Chris said nonchalantly, shrugging his shoulders.
"Tempting, but no. We need to talk about it," Gordie said.
"What's up with little bitches and always wanting to talk about stuff?" Chris asked.
"If I'm such a 'little bitch', then why did you kiss me?" Gordie asked jokingly.
"Maybe I like little bitches like you," Chris said.
"Ha, GAYYY," Gordie said in a strange falsetto.
"Well, nah shit, Sherlock," Chris said, trying not to laugh.
"So you are?" Gordie asked.
"Nope."
"So you're straight?" Gordie asked, his heart sinking.
"Nope."
"Bi?"
"Nope."
"Confused?"
"Nope."
"Questioning?"
"Nope."
"You're not gonna say yes to any of my questions, are you?" Gordie asked, looking at Chris slightly annoyed, yet also trying not to laugh.
"Nope," Chris said smiling proudly, choking back a laugh.
"Fuck you," Gordie replied, laughing.
"Nope," Chris said. He paused, then added, "Not yet, anyways." He knew what Gordie's reaction would be, so it took everything in him not to laugh at his own joke. Gordie's face turned bright red.
"Damnit," he muttered. Chris laughed.
