Chapter 16

Jace's P.O.V

I put my cap on and walk into the the intrance of the park. I see Fiona sitting on the park bench staring at her cracked phone.

I sit next to her. "Hey." I say. "Hey." She responds. Seconds go by intill I speak up and say "Im sorry about what Charlotte said.

She was way out of control." She shrugged then smiled. "You cant blame her, its all true. If I was her I would be just as jealous." She says staring out into space.

I look down. "Fo, none of that was true. Everything you said was true everything she said was a lie." She started crying.

"I ruin everyones life. Im a screw up! My parents hate me because they think im trying to replace Ruth,..." She swallows down tears.

"Charlotte hates me because she thinks im trying to steal you from her,you hate me because I basically killed your mom."

She said fully crying. "I am not mad at you at all. I will never blame you for that. That wasnt your fault! Stop blaming yourself for all of this stuff its not you fault! Dont let this stuff get to you. Okay?!?" I exclaimed. She looked down.

"Okay!?" I repeated. "Okay." She said quietly. Seconds, maybe minutes went by. "Jace can I tell you something?" Fiona speaks up. I turn my head and look at her.

"Mm hmm." I hum nodding hard. She stared out into space. Her face turned pale. She sighed. "One day, I got really low. I got every pill that I could find in the house. I took it into the bathroom locked the door. 30 minutes later Ruth found me in the bathtub face down. I died 4 times that night. But I lived." I stare at her hard.

"Why did you commit suicide? I ask harshly. Her eyes flutter and she sniffles. She turns towards me and looks me straight in the eyes for the first time.

"Because of you." She cries voice cracking in the middle. I furrow my eyebrows. "Me." I say pointing at myself. "She nods quickly. "Why?" I ask. She breathes in then out.

"Because I love you. I love you so much and I missed what we had. I missed being happy I missed being with my friends." She pause for a split second.

"Jace I dont know about you but as many times as Ive died in my life, im still alive. You know what thats called...its called fate. Im meant to live Jace. So im not blaming everything on me. I blaming everything Ive done wrong. Which is life."

I stare at her for a while. Did she just say she loves me? That she committed suicide for me? Did she just say that...that was fate!?! Well if that is what she just said I know what I have to do.

I smash my lips into hers and grasp her hair in between my fingers. She moans then pulls apart. "Jace." I look at her with hungry eyes. "Charlotte." She says quietly. I chuckle.

"Thanks for reminding me." She furrows her eyebrows. "Reminding you what?" I suck air between my teeth and bite my lip tasting Fiona. "Reminding me that Charlotte broke up with me." She looks down.

"Sorry about that." I nod. She stands up l. "I think you need time alone." I stand up as well. "I dont think I do." I say grabbing her waist. I pull her in for a hug.

"Fiona you're right, okay. It is fate." I pull apart from the hug and look her in the eyes. "Because I love you too, and I miss you." I say shaking because of my fear of her response. She takes a step closer to me. "What are you trying to say?"

She questions raising an eyebrow. "I....I don't know. "I shake. She smiles. "Jace, do you still...like me." I look down to keep her from knowing that im blushing. "Are you blushing." I smile forms on my lips. She does a small laugh.

"Call me okay?' She saying starting to walk away. "Wait!" I call grasping her waist and spinning her around. "Are you gonna stay at my place." I smiles. "A little too awkward." She laughs. I smile and look down at her lips.

"Your laugh is beautiful." I whisper mesmerized. She smiles and looks down. "Okay look just stay at my house untill you figure out where you wanna go." Her smile dissappears. "Jace I know where I'm going to go." I pull her closer to me.

We were face to face no room for us to move without our lips touching. "I cant do this alone." I whisper. "I need you." I beg. She pauses. "I need you too.....I'll stay a little longer."

I smile. I try to kiss her but she stops me. "Jace we're just friends. Nothing else okay?" I furrow my eyebrows. "Yeah...okay. Just friends. She nods the I pull her into my lips.

I can since her body is tense. I swipe my toungue over her bottom lip then pull apart. I lick my lips to taste her. "Just friends." I say staight faced. She wipes her bottom lip and sniffles.

"C'mon lets go." I assure her. I take her hand and walk her to the car. Once we get in my phone rings. "Excuse me." I grab my ohone from my back pocket. Its Charlotte. I answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jace."

"Hey, whats up Char." Fiona glances up at me then looks back at her lap.

"I just called to say im sorry about before and that i didnt mean to break up with you, and i thinking should give you another chance. Only if...you could give me another chance."

I squeeze my eyes shut. "Charlotte, I dont mean to break your heart but, I dont want to get back together." Fionas head shoots up. She slaps my arm. I glance at her.

"What?" Charlotte askes starting to crying.

"I think we should see other people. Charlotte thank you for being there for me for everything but just dont think this will work out." I hear her hang up. "Hello?" I hang up the phone and put my hand over my face. "Jace? Are you alright?"

I dont respond. I start sobbing. I feel Fiona bring my head into my chest. I continue to cry in her chest. "Its ok. Its alright. It will get better." I sit up and take my hands off my face. "This isnt a fun life." She stares at my face for a second.

"Well im gonna make it fun, no matter what." I shake my head no. "What are you talking about?" I question giving up on life. "You'll see. Trade me sears I'll drive us to your place. We trade seats. "We're gonna have fun okay." She says starting the car. We drive off.
