Chapter 3

Jennifer's Hair  ☝☝☝☝

Jennifer's P.O.V

I start walking home after I see Jace and Charlotte go home. I told Ruthie this was a bad idea. I havebto admit when I heard Jace perk up when he heard my old name I felt like I was loved by him again. I missed Jace all these years and I still love him. The messed up thing about it is her can never know im alive...

Flashback

Jace is in bed sound asleep. I try not to make a sound while I pack my clothes. I grab my money and my phone and also packed it in my bag. Ruthies supposed to be outside in 5 minutes.

I zip my bag as quietly as possible and walk over to Jace. He looks so peaceful while hes asleep. I bend over and kiss his forehead. "I love you Jace, I hope you know that."

I swipe his hair off of his face and walk out of my room. I rush down the staires. I open the door and close it quietly. Ruth is standing outside. I jog to her. "Hi. Thanks for doing this."

She nods disappointed. "Are you sure you want to do this? " She askes heartbroken. "I mean my mom just met you."

"I have to....Im sorry, you just dont understand." She sighs. "Youre right I dont." I look down. "Do you have the gas?" She nods and takes it out of her bag. "Ok, lets go."  Ruth and I poured as much gas as we could all over the house. It was really scary but I had to do it.

We met eachother at the front of the house. I took out matches from my front pocket.  Ruthie touched my arm. "Are you sure you wanna do this?" She asked. "Yes, Jace can never know I killed his mom." "BUT YOU DONT KNOW YOU KILLED HIS MOM." She said trying to unconvince me.

It wasnt gonna work. He would never forgive me. "Ruthanne please I already made up my mind." She rolls her eyes and stares at the house. I light a match. I toss the match at the house and the whole thing lights up. Ruth looks at me. "Go! Run meet me there!" I nod. I run as fast as I possibly can.  My hair blows back.

I run away from family, friends, the person I love most in my life...Jace. I am gonna miss him. I pick up my speed and head towards the Old Maple Grille.

Flashback Over

When I snap out of my flashback I realize tears are running down my face. I miss being Jaces girl. I miss kissing him. I miss Jace. And Charlotte....I dont know if it wrong that I feel this way I feel like she couldnt wait to get Jace to herself.

I should be appreciative of her though, she is the one who healed his broken heart when I "died". I approach the from door to me and Ruthies apartment.

I grab my key from my back pocket and unlock the door. I walk into Ruth and Josh on the couch cuddling watching Netflix. I wish I could do that with Jace. I shut the door and then she realizes I got here.

She pauses the movie they are watching. "Hey, where did you go?" "I went to the Old Maple Grille. I had to go away so Jace wouldnt see me. I had to knock your shelf down to make a distraction so you wouldnt tell him anything. Sorry." I looked at her sarcastically.

  "Im sorry too." I smirked. "And as for you Josh Dun. Tsk tsk tsk..." He furrowed his eyebrows. "What?" He laughed. "My name is Fiona Jane Johanson. 

KEEP IT LOCKED IN YOUR BRAIN." I warned jokingly.  "Sorry! Its just that ever since Ruth told me about your guys crazy story I have got the name Jennifer Dales stuck in my head." I smiled. "Oh yeah Charlotte saw me..."

Josh and Ruth perked up. "WHAT!"  They both said spontaneously. I rolled my eyes. "Guys she already knew that I was alive because of Zac. AND you guys still arnt listening to me about the phone call I heard between Zac and Paige."

Ruth stared at me. "Wait what phone call?" Josh asked. "You didnt tell him?" I questioned Ruthie. She shook her head no. "I was in Zac's house looking for "the files" and then he came home so I had to hide.

So then his phone started to ring and it was Paige. So thats the day I found out Paige broke out of Jail and she is trying to kill Jace. I had to warn Charlotte."

Ruth sat up. "What did you tell her?" Ruth asked. "I told her 'you  need to got, big things are happening.'" I shrugged. "You didnt explain anything?" 

Ruthie exclaimed. "I couldnt Jace was coming." Thats when Josh cuts in. "Uhhh..the thing I wanna know is if Paige is out of jail and coming for us, why havent we moved yet?" I nodded.

"My point exactly! " I said pointing at Ruth. "I am not leaving my family here!" She cut in. I rolled my eyes.

Jaces P.O.V

"I dont know Charlotte I feel like Ruthie and her boyfriend Jake are hiding something." She rolled her eyes. "Josh." She corrected. "Whatever. Plus I saw you checking him out." She smiled.

"I know you look at other girls sometimes and think they're cute. What's wrong with me looking at other guys and thinking they're cute?"  Charlotte askes as I crawl into bed next to her. "Everything! Girls are more likely to cheat than guys."

She sat up. "Oh! You wanna go there!?!" I sat up too. "No! No no no no no no. Lets just relax, okay?" I smiled kidding. She laughed and layed back down. I kissed her lips passionately.  She detaches smiles and looks into my eyes.

I smile back. She turns off the lamp. "Good morning. " She greets making a joke about whats about to happen. We laughed. "Good morning." I feel her arms snake around my waist.
