Jade is a sensible person, who usually doesn't go out for late-night strolls, especially after midnight. Especially after a gangster tried to kidnap her.
The air was chilly, and Jade pulled up her jacket to cover her face.
Her black hair curled around her face, tickling her cheeks.
She took a deep breath.
What the hell hijacked my life? Everything was going perfectly.
She thought over the past hour, trying to process it all.
Her mom was missing and "didn't exist", a gangster invaded her house, and the police thought she was joking.
Oh, and SAT's.
Jade took a deep breath and focused on putting one foot in front of the other.
Soon, she was more than a few blocks from her apartment.
Her body relaxed, her breathing slowed.
Jade smiled to herself.
Finally, some peace.
A dark figure tumbled into her, pinning her against the wall.
You idiot! Of course there'd be more the God damn freaking gangsters!
Jade shrieked and a hand quickly covered her mouth.
She kicked out, colliding with something.
Someone cursed then pulled out a phone, the screen lighting up the dark air.
"Boss, I got her."
Boss? Is he with that gangster from before? She internally rolled her eyes. Obviously, Jade. Random people don't try to catch the same person.
Jade struggled against the arms holding her, kicking and biting.
A slimy voice whispered in her ear,"Feisty, aren't we, little devil?"
Jade kicked more furiously, striking something.
The man behind her cursed loudly and crashed onto the floor.
She ran, pushing against the ground with enough force to rattle her teeth.
She ran harder, hearing the thundering footsteps of the men racing behind her.
She tumbled into an alley way, seeing a wall in front of her, and crashed her shoulder into a alley wall. She crashed under a pile of boxes and metal.
She bit her lip, struggling to stay quiet.
Damn it! God damn it!
The men clambered into the alley, cursing and searching.
The one who had held her from behind sighed, exasperated.
"Why do we need the little girl anyway? We already got the mother, why? The boss need a complete set or something? Though looking at that cute little thing....."
They have Mom! Jade's mind ran, thinking.
He licked his lips and his partner slapped him on the head.
"You freaking idiot! Haven't you been listening to the-" He suddenly held a finger up.
"What was that?"
Jade cursed herself silently. A chunk of metal had cut into her thigh, making it hard for her to shut the hell up properly.
She squeezed her eyes shut, hoping to hide herself.
The boxes shifted off Jade's body, a harsh light shining on her face.
The perv smirked down at her, grabbing her arm.
"Well, well, fancy meeting you here, little girl....."
He brought his face close to Jade's, his breath itching her face.
She pulled away from him and he laughed.
The other man pulled out a gun from his pocket, aiming it Jade.
Jade stared at it, wide-eyed.
What's with people and guns?!
She felt the muscles in her body tense, ready.
"Let's stop playing these damn games, girl. Let's get the hell going."
He moved forward, signaling his partner behind Jade.
He stepped directly behind her, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"The name's Ricky, but you......" His hand trails down to her waist. He wiggles his fingers, reaching farther down.
Shudders crawl through Jade.
He continues. "But you can call me-"
Jade spun around, crashing a foot into his shin.
"I'll call you Bastard."
She spun out of reach and started running. Her thigh bled into her jeans, pulsing with pain.
The man with the gun cursed, racing after her.
He yelled into a phone. "Backup! She's getting away, God damn it!"
Jade ran faster and a shot fired past her.
The air from its momentum blew Jade's hair out of her face.
Fear built up in her stomach.
She ran faster, veering back towards her apartment.
More shots rang out behind her. Jade ran faster, trying to stay ahead of them.
The pain in her thigh was intensifying the longer she ran.
She tumbled into the street, her leg pulsing with pain.
Her jean leg was soaked and red, the pain growing sharper.
The men caught up to her, towering over her.
The one carrying the gun bent over her, squinting.
"Get up, girl. Before I let Ricky over there carry you."
Jade felt anger building in her chest, the pain from her leg making it fiercer.
The man pulled at her arm and tried to tug her up.
Jade stubbornly stayed put, trying to get strength back in her leg so she could run.
The man whispered gruffly,"I don't have orders to bring you in alive, girl, so I suggest you get up, little bi-"
Jade kicked him in the shin, jumping onto her feet.
"THAT'S IT!"
Jade turned and started to run.
She heard the sound of a gun being locked and loaded. She looked up suddenly, seeing the glint of light.
She turned, her eyes widening as a bullet shot forward at the speed of light.....
Straight for her head.
