"Hey Marnie," I heard Ashton's voice say from his window. I sighed and looked over at him.

"Hi," I mumbled.

"Are you working tonight?" He asked. Today was Saturday. I had sat in my room all day and avoided my father and mother.

"Uh, yeah. I'm leaving in 15 minutes," I said.

"We're performing tonight," Ashton smiled.

I gave him a nod. "I should get ready." I walked back into my room and grabbed my work clothes and got changed. I picked up my bag and went downstairs and got into my car. I was glad that the boys were performing tonight. I like their music, it's actually really good. I went behind the bar and started serving drinks to people. The boys arrived with their instruments and set up on stage.

"Hey it's us, again. 5 Seconds Of Summer and we're going to be playing some more songs for you all whilst you get drunk!" Ashton smiled as they began to play. I little grin appeared on my face too as I cleared the empty tables.

I stood at the bar and watched them sing. I have to say, Calum had the softest voice I had ever heard and I really liked it. It actually made me feel happy inside. I kept smiling to myself as they sung and I had to try and focus on working.

Within the next few hours, my shift ended and so did their performance. I saw Calum stood at the bar as I finished my shift and was about to leave.

"Hey Marnie," he smiled.

"Hi," I said.

"Do you want to go on a walk with me and the boys? Calum asked.

"Uh, sure. Where to?" I replied.

"Just down the road. We might get a drink or something. Have you finished your shift?" He questioned and I nodded. "Let's go then."

We walked out of the bar and onto the sidewalk. Ashton, Michael and Luke walked ahead and Calum and I followed behind.

"So, do you like working here?" Calum asked.

"Um, yeah. It could be worse. I like listening to the people that play music there," I replied, shyly.

"What did you think of us tonight?" He questioned.

"You were good. I like the songs you sing. Who writes them?" I asked.

"Um, I write most of them and the boys help out too," he smiled and I nodded.

When I'm around Calum, I feel comfortable and it's weird. I hardly even know him, yet I'm always talking to him.

"How long have you worked there for?" Calum asked.

"A few months now. It's a nice getaway from being at home," I sighed. That's another reason I wanted to go on a walk with the boys. So I didn't have to go home to my drunk father.

"Do you not like being at home?" He questioned. Wow. Calum was full of questions tonight.

"Um, it's okay," I mumbled, hoping he would realise I didn't want to talk about this.

"Who do you live with?" He asked.

"My mother and father," I said, putting my hand over my face and looking away from him.

I felt his hand on my wrist and I immediately flinched at the pain coming from underneath my bracelets. He rested my hand by the sides of my body and sighed.

"You shouldn't hide yourself away. Your so bea-"

"We're going in here!" Ashton turned around and shouted, walking into Starbucks.

I smiled, "I like coffee." I ran in front and into Starbucks, avoiding the conversation I just had with Calum.

CALUM'S POV

"We did a good show tonight," Ashton smiled.

"Yeah, I agree," I said, lying on his bed.

I'm staying over at Ashton's tonight. We arrived here about an hour ago after being out with Marnie.

"Did you manage to speak to Marnie?" Ashton asked.

I nodded, "yeah. I spoke to her for a bit, just asking her about her life and work but then when I started to talk about hiding herself away, you turned around and shouted about going for coffee so she ran ahead and got some."

"Oh sorry." Ashton sighed. "You like her though, don't you?"

"Um, what?" I questioned.

"You like her. I see how you are with her. You try and talk to her and your always checking if she's okay," Ashton replied.

"Yeah, but that's just because I care," I mumbled.

"Come on Cal," Ashton sighed.

"Fine. I think I like her. She's pretty and nice. I just want to help her, Ashton. She's so fucking insecure and unconfident. It's sad..." I explained.

"Yeah, I understand," Ashton smiled. "We will help her."

MARNIE'S POV

"Get away from me!" I shouted.

"Where are you going?" My father shouted.

"Out! I'll be back soon!" I replied, grabbing my jacket and my phone. I left the house and walked down the road, not particularly going anywhere in particular. I just wanted get out of the house for a while and be away from my father.

It was quite cold tonight, so I went into Starbucks and grabbed a coffee before continuing my walk down the street. It was dark as it was late now. I slowly walked, sipping my coffee and I found a bench to sit on. I brought my legs to my chest and drank my coffee. Why was my life so complicated? Everyone else's seems normal and nice where as mines just shit. Do I deserve it?

I looked up and around the street and saw a large building in front of me. It didn't look nice and pretty much abandoned. There was a sign that had been taped to the wall in front of it.

'APARTMENTS FOR SALE. £80 A MONTH'

That's actually really cheap. Maybe I could do that. I probably have enough money and I could get some more shifts. I guess I'll have to think about it, but anywheres better than home.

'Dear diary,

I wish people would stop asking me if I'm okay. I know they are just wanting to help but I'd rather just keep it all to myself. I saw some apartments before that were really cheap! I'd do anything to get out of this house so maybe that's my answer. Anyway, life still shit and I'll update you tomorrow!

Marnie x
