"MARNIE!" I heard Michael's voice shout. I sighed and walked over to my window. I've spent enough time with these people in one day. I slowly opened it and saw Michael, Ashton, Calum and Luke waiting for me.
"Hey, what you up to?" Calum smirked.
"Uh, nothing much," I sighed, watching them all looking at me.
"Sounds fun. We're going to chill in Ashton's backyard for a bit. Do you want to join us?" Luke asked.
"Um," I said. Why did they all want to suddenly hangout with me? I guess it's a good thing but I'd rather be alone. "I'm okay thanks."
"Please come, it's hot outside and we want you to have fun with us," Ashton said.
"I have homework to do," I mumbled.
"I know you don't like doing homework!" Ashton laughed. Why did he have to know all this? I sighed.
"Fine I'll come for a little bit," I said.
"Come in the back gate!" Ashton shouted as I walked away.
I grabbed my phone and earphones and went downstairs where my mother was sitting.
"Um I'm going to hang with Ashton and his friends for a little bit," I explained.
"Okay, honey see you later," she smiled. I nodded and left my house and walked next door to Ashton's. I put one earphone in and I walked into his backyard where all of them were sitting. It was a small area but very pretty. There was lots of flowers and cute plants around and a large grassy area. The boys were sat in a circle on the grass talking.
I pulled my sleeves over my wrists and I held them in my hands as I made my way over to them.
"Marnie!" Luke smiled as he noticed me.
"Hi," I said and I sat down next to Luke and Ashton.
"I'm glad you came. Do you want a drink?" Ashton asked.
"Um, no I'm fine thanks," I replied, staring down at the floor. Why was a so anxious? I kept trying to focus on the quiet music that was coming from my headphones to calm me down.
"Can I have some water please?" Calum asked.
"Yeah, me too," Michael said.
"And me," Luke added.
"I'll get everyone a bottle of water," Ashton giggled. "Will you help me, Marnie?"
I nodded and followed him into his house. He showed me to the kitchen and a woman was stood in there which I knew was his mother.
"Hi Marnie. I haven't seen you in a while. How are you doing?" Ashton's mother smiled.
"Hi Mrs Irwin. Uh, I'm okay thanks," I mumbled, waiting for Ashton. Ashton came back with 5 bottles of water and handed me two. I followed Ashton back outside and the boys had now moved so they were lying in the son. Ashton handed his bottles to Michael and Luke and kept one for himself. I walked over to Calum who was lying on the end and sat next to him. I shyly stretched out my arm and handed him the bottle.
"Thanks Marnie," Calum said, giving me a grin. There was something I liked about Calum. He always gave me reassuring smiles and he always made an effort to talk to me. I guessed the other bottle was for me and I was glad because I felt quite hot in the the sun.
"What are you listening to?" Calum asked as I lay down on my front.
"The 1975," I replied, playing with my hands.
"You have a really good taste in music, you know? Blink 182 is one of my favourite bands. You like them, right?" Calum questioned and I nodded. I think he knew that I enjoyed music and it helped me in a way.
