This lacrosse game has been the most intense sport game I have ever watched. I was unable to stay in my seat, too worried about Scott, Stiles, Kira, and Liam to be able to sit. My body would constantly jump to my feet when any of them were bumped or thrown to the ground by the opposing team.
Being the new girl, I could sense that Stiles was growing suspicious of me. I can't say I really blame him. I've been helping them just like I used to. I just randomly showed up out of nowhere and claimed to know one of their friends.
Stiles grew even more suspicious of me when Liam was slammed to the ground during the game by Garrett and I ran over to him, beating everyone else in the process. Mason, who is another freshman, was the one to knock him to the ground. The way he backed away from Liam smirking only made me convinced that he was one of the assassins.
Everyone else runs to Brett, who took the hardest fall out of all three of them. Scott and Stiles race up behind me as I'm helping Liam to his feet.
"How hard did you hit him?" Scott immediately coming to my aid to help Liam.
Stiles glances back and forth between Liam and myself with an perplexed look on his face. I meet his gaze for a second before I purposely look back to Liam. There's something in Stiles' eyes that make me wonder if he's figuring out who I am. I've seen that look before and it usually means he's trying to figure something out.
"I didn't." Liam pants, holding his arm close to his chest. "He hit me."
Liam angles his arm to show us the bone clearly not in the right place. Stiles is quick to look away from the broken arm, feeling sick.
Scott quickly pulls his gloves off of his hands and wraps his fingers around Liam's broken arm. "Close your eyes." Once Liam's eyes are shut, Scott snaps the bone back in place with a swift motion.
A pained gasp comes from Liam from the bone moving back in place. I flinch from the loud snapping noise. From behind us, medics help bring Brett to his feet with two people helping him off of the field. I can't imagine how much pain he must be in from being hit. Garrett really did hit both of them hard.
"Are you cut? Did Garrett cut you?" Scott worriedly looks over his beta.
"No, no. I'm okay."
I whip my head over my shoulder, curious to know where Garrett went off to. My eyes drift over the bleachers and fall upon a dark haired freshman nodding towards the field as she walks back towards the school. The look in her eyes matched the same one that Garrett had after he hit Liam.
"Then he missed." Scott stares wide eyed at Liam.
"What do you mean?"
"It's you, Liam. You're the one he's after."
I scan the lacrosse field for Garrett. Once I find him, I notice his eyes are trained on the freshman that was leaving the bleachers. Something doesn't feel right here. I look back to Liam, knowing that Scott has things under control here. Without another word, I race off of the field, hoping not to draw any attention to myself as I fall into the shadows to chase after the girl. If I remember correctly, her name is Violet.
The shadows cover me as I sneakily trail behind Violet to the school. If she's working with Garrett as an assassin, it wouldn't make sense for her to just leave the game. Liam wasn't the only one that was hit by Garrett. The kid Brett was hurt much worse. Wait a second. Liam wasn't the one that Garrett was after tonight, it was Brett.
I sneak inside of the school and head for the boy's locker room, where Violet just disappeared into. I reach down for one of the daggers hidden in the inside of my denim jacket. I hold it tightly in my hand. When I reach the door to the boy's locker room, my eyes widen at the medic knocked out unconsciously in the pathway. I carefully step over him.
