Chapter 3: Maybe's

"Demi."

"Demi come on, get up."

I swatted the two boys away from me as I wanted to be left alone until Jeremy pulled the blankets off me, revealing me to him and Damon. I'm back in the Salvatore house now. I didn't want to talk, not after what Silas told me last night. I'm a doppelgänger. An original hybrid is a doppelgänger, I couldn't make it up if I tried. Silas wouldn't explain it all, only that I was the doppelgänger of a girl he loved. The girl wasn't Amara or Qetsiyah but a simple girl called Kyria. Silas loved Kyria before anyone else but she didn't chose him.

"You have to get up Demi." Damon told me.

"No." I stated.

"Matt found Katherine so I'm going with him and Damon's going to look for Stefan." Jeremy told me.

"Fine." I stood up. "I'll go with Damon now will use please leave so I can use the shower?"

They accepted my excuse and left my room. I ripped my clothes off me and jumped into the refreshing shower. I was starting to relax when my head started to spin and I got a vision. I saw Stefan, trapped, trying to get out, he was underwater..... I think I know where Stefan is....

I jumped out of the shower and changed into three-quarter length jeans, a yellow crop jumper and yellow vans then I grabbed my keys and my phone and ran downstairs. Damon was waiting for me downstairs and I practically jumped on him.

"I got it Damon. I had a vision. Stefan was trapped underwater, didn't Stefan go to the lake to dump Silas' body before the summer? Couldn't that be it?" I asked him.

"You're a genius!" Damon exclaimed and kissed my forehead then pulled me outside to his car where he began driving. I knew I was right. I knew I could find Stefan.

In car, Damon rang Sheriff Forbes and told her to get her and her team to meet us at the lake. This was it, I knew something was wrong but now I'm getting him back.

"I knew all summer, deep down I knew everything but I chose to ignore it and Stefan's been suffering because I was too stubborn to think he might actually be in trouble." I guilted myself.

"Demi, just because Stefan's been in pain doesn't mean you can just forgive him, you do remember what he did to you." Damon clarified. "He broke your heart."

"Damon, for a minute when I found out Silas was back, I actually thought Stefan was dead....and I can tell that's the worst feeling in the word, even worse than being heartbroken. So even if Stefan and I won't be a couple, I'll be happy, just knowing he's safe." I told Damon.

"He doesn't deserve you." Damon sighed.

"Don't talk about me like I'm a decent person Damon, I'm still an original." I reminded him.

"Only by blood. You always do that, you always put yourself down because you're an original. Just because you've got a bad reputation and a bad past, doesn't mean that you can't change." Damon told me. "You've changed Demi."

Damon was right. I have changed so much and I'm not a bad person. I think I changed the most when I lost Hayden because that made me realise what I lost and what I need out of life.

"When I first met you, I hated you and I'm sure the feeling was mutual, I fact you tried to kill me by stabbing me through the heart with a stake. Now, I find you're the only one I can talk to, I think I trust you more than anybody." I told Damon. "You've changed too Damon."

"I'm starting to see why my brother loved you." Damon smirked.

"But just like Stefan, Elena will always be your true love. I in the other hand am sentenced to walk the earth forever alone." I joked.
