      Sarah

The last few days at the hospital has been rough. Not just for Carmine. But for me as well.
Imagine meeting a family member you didn't think you would ever see again.  And then finding them again. What are you going to do? Hang out and catch up in lost time.
But what about the other people that mean something to you that you're ignoring? They're just a speck in the distance that you don't care about.
Thats how I felt. At first I was okay with Skylor being there for Carmine. She's been through a lot. But now that 2 weeks have gone by and I've scarcely seen or talked to Sky.
I looked at my phone and saw a text from Sky.
<Sky>sorry I can't hang out tonight Carmine is having a surgery and she needs me there for her.
I don't say much to him anymore. He's my boyfriend. He should be hanging out with me. It's like he doesn't care anymore.
The only thing that I could think if that would help me get over this jealous stage, was to call my oldest friend, Ashton He's always been there when I needed to talk and was a lays on my side.
I pressed the talk button and waited for him to pick up.
      "Hey, wassup?" He said.
"I need to meet you. Is now a good time?" I said in a rush.
      "Uh, yeah. Where?"
      "Usual spot."
"Okay. See ya in a few. "

I climbed up the familiar tree. It was a big beautiful oak that me and Ashton had secretly built a tree house in. It was in a park that I'd gone to since I could walk.
I walked up to the base of the tree and looked up. The familiar memories suddenly springing a smile only face.
I texted Ashton asking where he was. He answered quickly and said he was a few blocks away.
I sat at the bottom of the tree. I wasn't tall enough to get to the tree house by myself, so I either had to bring a stool, or wait for Ashton. I usually chose the easiest option and waited for him.
There was no way I was letting anyone else know about this. Not even my best friend Sarai. It was mine and Ashton's spot. He was here first.
I heard a trucks engine pull up down the street, and I looked up to find Ashton's Chevy.
I watched him get out and I smiled. He was so good looking. He had almost white blonde hair with brown streaks and deep sapphire blue eyes.
Ashton's smile was goofy, and he was cheeky. I always wondered why I became friends with him but it's not really your fault when your families hang out and say we're going to get married. At age fifty according to my father.
But I never liked him in that way,  he was my best my best friend whom I trusted with everything.
"Still need my help, ducky?" Ashton said giving me a hand up.
"I still waiting for a growth spurt, goose." I said back.
He linked his fingers together and held them out for me to step in. I put my foot in his hands, and my hand on his head for balance.
Ashton launched me up into the branches, and I pulled my self up into the tree house, Aston right behind me.
There were pillows and blankets we brought and cleaned regularly. The walls were wide enough so that we could lay down with extra room to spare.
Ashton pulled himself up, and made room for him on the pillows.
He took of his drawstring bag and pulled out two bottles of water a box of twinkies, and a box of soda. Neither of us would leave until all of it was gone.
"So," he said, handing me a grape soda, and a water. "What's up?"
I turned to him on my side, letting myself get lost in the dark eyes I knew so well.
I explained everything and Ashton did nothing but listen. Which is one of the reasons that I was such good friends with him. He always was willing to listen to very single word I said.
"I feel terrible for being the jealous about a family thing, but she doesn't want to see me. I was the one that found Carmine and all she wants to see is Sky. I know I'm being selfish, but I haven't seen, and hardly talked to Skylor since she was admitted into the hospital."
Ashton thought for a second. "I know the feeling." He rolled on his back. "When my mom started dating after my dad died, I felt like I wasn't important anymore. When I met you, I finally had someone who cared enough to want me around."
I smiled at him. "I'm glad I made a difference."
"C'mere," he opened his arm and pulled me to him. We sat like this regularly. It wasn't in a romantic way. We were friends that didn't want to ruin the relationship we have now.
Ashton pulled a rope beside him, and I watched the roof unfold the starry sky. I gasped.
"When did you do this, Ash?"
      "Just now."
"No. Really?" I said sarcastically. A laugh slipped out and I curled into his chest.
"You had no idea huh?" He said.
"I knew something was coming. I just didn't know what."
"Uh huh. Sure." I could hear the smile in his voice.
      I nudged him.
We laid there for hours, talking until my eyes started to get droopy. I curled further into Ashton's chest. Letting out a deep breath of air.
      "Sleep ducky. Love ya."
"Love you too." I mumbled, before drifting off to sleep.

Hey guys! I hope you are enjoying this so far, but I need help. I have things planned down the road for this story, but I'm having writers block. Comment something that you would like to happen in this and I will try to put it in. No promises tho.
