I knew where she was. I knew what was happening. I knew what she was.
She couldn't hide forever. As soon as the curse broke, she'd have to come up for air. And when she did, I'd be ready.
She was going to pay for what she did to me. And I would never, let her go.

Sarah's POV
I tugged on my hoodie, and dusted on a tiny amount of makeup.
My phone vibrated, illuminating Sky's face.
I picked it up, walked out if the bathroom an answered his call.
"Hello?" My heart was expecting him to cancel like the many times before.
"Sar-bear!! How are you?" Sky's voices sounded way to excited.
I narrowed my eyes in confusion. "Good. Why are you acting so weird?"
"I'm just super stoked for our date!!" Again, it was WAY overly excited.
I rolled my eyes, slowly a smile quirked up the corners of my mouth. "You sound like a valley girl."
I heard a scoff from the other end, and I laughed. Something I hadn't done in a long time.
"I like, do not sound, like, like a valley girl!" He said in a high pitched voice. "I'm a like, man over here. Can't you, tell?"
I let out a huge belly laugh. I couldn't help it. "Yeah Sky. You sound like a man. Totally!"
"I love your laugh, bear." Sky said, "I want to hear it more often."
I was about to point out that if he wanted to hear it more, he could not cancel dates right and left. But something held me back. I didn't want to ruin the mood.
"Are you ready?" He asked.
"Uh yeah. I think so."
"Meet me outside. I've got something for you."
This caught me off guard. "O-okay." I grabbed my keys, purse, and came down the stairs.
I turned the door knob, but a voice behind me stopped me in my tracks.
"Saraphina?" My fathers voice commanded. "Where are you going?"
I sighed. "Going out with Skylor."
"You are too young for this boy." He said. Taking off his glasses and placing the news paper on the coffee table.
I squared my shoulders. "Why should I listen to you?"
"Because I'm your father."
I glared at him. "Your my mothers husband. My father is dead. You don't have any authority over me."
"Saraphina, you listen to me right now, young lady." Fire was in his eyes. Anger as black as night filled his face with hatred.
Fear coursed through my body. I knew I'd crossed the line. I turned the knob and raced out the door. He followed me and stopped at the porch, his voice carrying on the brisk wind outside.
I saw Skylor sitting in his car. He looked up and waved. He started to get out of his car, but I shook my head, as I got closer.
He had a confused look on his face but closed the door. I glanced over my shoulder to see my stepdad charging after me.
I reached the car, I opened the door and dove in. "Drive!" I was breathing hard as Skylor peeled out.
"What happened in there?" Sky asked, looking back and forth between the road and me.
"He- he told me that I was too young to have a boyfriend even though I'm almost 18. I said that he wasn't my father and he couldn't tell me what to do."
Skylor placed his hand on my knee. "Why did you say that?" He asked, fear and concern was evident in his voice. "Did he hurt you?"
I shook head. "He's not my father." He still looked confused. "My mom married him before I met you, and ever since she died 2 years ago, he thinks that I'm his servant, and that he can tell me what to do. He gets drunk, and it's gotten out of hand several times. I don't think he's going to let me out again."
Skylor didn't say anything. I could tell he was thinking. And the silence between us was making me squirm.
When he finally spoke, what came out of his mouth surprised me.
"How long has this been going on? The drunk beatings you get, I mean."
"Wha-"
"Just answer the question." His voice was stern but gentle at the same time.
My eyes dropped into my lap. "A couple years."
I looked up at him. His jaw was clenched, and his hands gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white.
"It's nothing." I said tugging at my sleeves.
"No." Skylor snapped. "It's not nothing. You have been in this abusive situation, I'm not going to let him do more."
I swallowed the lump forming in my throat. He was the first person that actually wanted to listen long enough to care.
"That bruise on the back of your neck." His voice was softer. "Is that what you said it was from? Did you fall down the stairs? Or was that your step dad's doing?"
"I'm really sorry for lying to you." I said quietly. "I just didn't want anyone to pity me."
Sky looked like he was going to say something.
"Can we talk about this later?" I cut in.
His eyebrows raised in surprise at my outburst. Then, a smile slowly lifted the corners of his mouth. "Of course. " he said softly. "I'm sorry for pushing you. I can tell you aren't ready to talk about this and I won't talk about this until your are ready okay? Promise."
This is a brief glance of what Sarah's life is like at home. I hope you liked it.
If there is a character that you would like added in, then I need a couple things from you.
