Chapter Two

A New Adventure

I collapsed on the cool ground, exhaustion over taking my body. I let Marco drop to the ground, feeling quite frustrated with him. If he hadn't been such a fool in healing my foot, I wouldn't have had to carry him countless miles though the night and have had to worry about his health. We had traveled all though the night, getting a big head start against the towns people from the night before. We were more half way though the mountains. Jacos and I had decided to set up a temporary camp and eat, we hoped Marco would wake up also. Jacos started to set up a fire; I pulled the pack off my back, and began to open it. Inside was a small sack of gold coins, and a few pieces of jewelry. I examined a ruby encrusted ring.

We had taken the jewelry from a noblewoman who was visiting the small settlement Woodsbrow. She would find he had no more jewelry left, this morning. I smiled at the thought. I had seen the woman yesterday on a horse in the streets. Plaid in a long pink lavish dress, and pounds of jewelry. I could tell she was a snob; the way she looked down on everyone, with a distasteful frown on her face. I didn't feel bad at all about taking her things. In fact it made feel accomplished. I lifted up a necklace. It was surprising plain compared to the rest of the collection, though much more grand than anything I had ever worn. It had a long silver chain with a pure diamond heart charm small intricate carvings chiseled into it. In the sunlight, dazzling rainbows sprouted around it. I stared at it in wonder, unable to take my eyes off its magnificent beauty. The inner girl in me, wanted the necklace more than anything. It's mine now. I thought.

But deep inside, I knew it wasn't really truly mine. It had been a noblewoman's. I would never have things like that without stealing them. I sighed. suddenly the diamonds beauty seemed to lessen. With those thoughts came the emotion of anger. I felt angry that I couldn't have things like the rich did. It wasn't just the necklace, no I wanted a nice home I wanted enough food for a proper meal. I wasn't greedy, but I did think I deserved more than what I had. I deserved a piece of what rich people didn't deserve. It was their fault after all I was being hunted. It was because Marco had huge magical powers that they where afraid of. Because I stood beside him, I was considered evil too. And If I'm already considered evil, it doesn't really matter than if I take others things. In spite, I put the necklace on, though I hid it in my shirt. It would remind me who I was and that I deserved things like that. Beside me Marco groaned.

 "Wha- .....where?" He blinked.

I turned to him, my blood starting to boil.

"Why are you such an idiot?" I demanded, "What made you think it was a good idea to waste all of your energy on my foot? You could have died!"

Marco chuckled, and slowly started to sit up; I refused to offer any help.

"I'd'a thought you would be greatful for my help. If I hadn't done that you would have had to walk around with a broken ankle! And then we would have had to drag you around." He replied.

"Maybe," Jacos said, "But you weigh more than her, and she would have been awake and able to help a little."

"Aye," I commented, "You were like a really big sack of potatoes."

"Aye." Jacos agreed, with a chuckle.

Marco, smiled slightly. It was still evident we was weak, and purely exhaustion. His face was still pale, even paler than it normally was. Marco's dark hair was a big mess on his head, falling over his thick eyebrows, and almost reaching his unique eyes. because of his magical gifts his eyes where a shining bright gold, that seemed to pierce your inner sole. I found them a bit intimidating at times. Of course Marco's whole predicament was a bit intimidating and strange on its own.
