Chapter Seven
Visions
At first, I saw nothing in the glass-like water. I was about to pull away when, I felt something. I didn't see anything like I would have thought, but instead I could feel a strong heat running up and down my skin like I was near a fire. Then I heard something. Cry's, and shouts of fear or pain I couldn't tell. Then I started to see. I say a bright orange, and yellows melted together. I was standing on a high cliff staring down, all I saw was fire, and shadows. There was a dark, grim feeling in the air, and I could feel two figures standing beside me. Then, the image changed. It was a memory. I was running though the woods, tears steaming down my face. I stumbled and fell, but I never stopped moving. In the distance I could see lights in piercing the darkness. I ran towards the village, I knew where I was going. I dashed though the road, until I reached my destination. I pounded on the door of the cottage, "Grandma!" I shouted.
The door opened, revealing my grandmother. Her skin was wrinkled, and her white hair was pulled into a bun. She wore a dirty apron and brown dress.
"Jacklyn dear!" She said, "What are you doing here?"
"Grandmother, they-they sent me away!" I wept. "She told me to come here, they don't want me!"
"Jacklyn, calm down sweet." My Grandmother stroked my head, and pulled me inside.
I clung to her, crying into her embrace. Once my tears finally started to slow, she said, "Now tell me what's wrong."
"Mother and father started to argue," I began though sniffles, "Then, they told me to leave. They said run to your house as fast as I could. Oh grandma, they don't want me anymore!"
Grandmother shook her head. "That's not it dear. They still love you, they just want to protect you." She assured me. But her face was stern, with both anger and a look of worry.
The memory faded, and new images appeared. I saw only blackness, a cold darkness full of mystery. I heard a woman's scream in protest. I realized it was my own voice I heard. I felt something warm on my hands, a thick liquid. I saw a flash of feet running though mud. Then a huge golden eye. A flash of red and orange. Then a tear rolling down a dry cheek. I trying to pull away, away from the visions and sounds. I saw a bright light, then I ripped away from the connection. I felt myself falling and slamming into the ground.
