Chapter Three Dreams

Thea ~~
We get up from the table when we finish eating. We go to our bathroom. I pull my hair, and Maya's hair, in a fishtail braid. I got the talent of hair braiding while Maya got ponytails.

Maya and I change into almost matching pajamas. Technically they are best friends pajamas, but we're best friends as well as twins.

Maya ~~
It's so sweet that Thea braids my hair. I'm great at ponytails and she's great at braids. We change into bestie pajamas. I mean we are best friends!

We walk through the door into our room. The bathroom is connected to our room. I climb to the top bunk and Thea just sits on her bed. I stare at my light blue covers and think of Thea's pink ones. When we got the room painted we wanted our bed covers to match the walls. So that's exactly want we did. Top bunk blue; bottom bunk pink. Then we chose who got which bunk.

Thea ~~
When I get into bed I ask Maya. "All three houses for sale on our street got moved into. Do you wanna bake some brownies to bring over to the three families?"

"Mmm..." Maya considers. "Cookies and I'm in."

I laugh. "Ok...deal!"

Eventually I fall asleep not wanting to wait for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first day of summer! And we're baking cookies! One of our favorite childhood activities! And supposedly all of the kids are our age. Maybe wed make some new friends. And them all being neighbors means that they'll probably go to the same highschool as us.

I sleep dreamless.

Maya ~~
I fall asleep slowly.

Thea and I make cookies and I put my hand on the oven. My hand comes back bloody and burnt. I try to talk to Thea, but I can't. My mouth won't open. No sound can come out.

My burn disappears and we walk over to the first new neighbor. All of the new neighbors are over there and they all hate me. The scream in my face and call me names. I hand them the cookies we worked so hard on and they slap them out of my hands. They fall on the ground.

I wake up at 7:00 o'clock a.m. and think, What a stupid dream! but that doesn't keep me from being a little bit nervous about meeting the new neighbors. I have nothing to worry about, right?
