"Apologies."

"You have a brother?!?" Skyler asked, a bit calmer now.
"Yes." I replied, and showed her the photo. "And I also have a plan."

The plan was set, I had the crystal, and the photo was in Nathaniel's black briefcase. All my hopes were resting on this moment. Running up the steps of the museum, the crystal cupped securely in my hands.
My foot landed in the top step.
I ran through the doors.
Past the dinosaur exhibit.
Into the library.
Dr. Namsith was sitting at his desk, and when he heard the door open, he looked up from his paperwork, and glared at me through his gold spectacles.
"I assume you want your job back?" He asked, and set down his pen.
"I don't want my job back, I'm getting my job back." I said firmly, setting the crystal onto his desk, on top of his paperwork. He looked astonished. He looked from the crystal to me, then back to the conclusion crystal, then back to me.
"The crystal of Avyrith." He marveled, and I nodded. "Which was only a myth. I wasn't even sure that it existed." At those words I jumped up.
"You sent me after an imaginary gem, which even you weren't sure existed?" I said angrily.
"Yes, and I apologize." I glared at him. "That is no way to treat your employer, now is it Al?" He said. Now, it was my turn to be baffled.
"What?" I asked.
"Do you not want your job?" He asked.
"No, I mean, yes, I mean thank you! So, so, so, so, so much!" I said, and he jumped up out of his seat, and we exchanged a brief hug.
"Your brother is waiting for you." He said.
"How did you know I had a brother?" I asked, straightening my hat.
"He used to work for me for some time." He said. I had more questions, but Nathaniel was waiting for me.

He stood outside the museum, holding the photo.
"Alexandria." He said. "I'm sorry."
"You better be." I said. "And you better hope Dr. Namsith will take you back."
