This is it. I thought, adrenaline coursing through my system. I pressed my sweat drenched back against the large, cold rock that was blocking my path completely. The strange natives chased after me, their spear tips catching the sparse light made it through the canopy of trees above. A spear went whizzing above my head, and if I hadn't ducked, my head would've been pinned to that rock, and, not to mention, dead. My first instinct was to grab the spear, and fight back. That idea was quickly vetoed, seeing that I didn't have the strength to dislodge the spear. Fortunately, another great idea came to mind. The "Indians" were approaching rather quickly, so I decided that I better hurry, if I wanted to keep my freedom... and my sanity. I grabbed the spear, and climbed on top of it, balancing on the thin stick of wood that bowed and groaned under my weight. Thwack! Another spear hit the rock, just to my right. Are these psychos trying to help me escape? I fingered the small pouch that I tied to my belt, and the diamond inside of it. Of course, these people were absent when I arrived, all the sudden, they had just materialized out of thin air! I climbed on top of the next spear, and as another volley of them was released, climbed on those too. Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down. I reminded myself, though accidentally looking down to see the natives at least fifty feet below, starting to climb the spears. At last, I heard one of these people, the tall one who wore a headdress of brightly colored feathers speak. He appeared to be the leader.
"You will never last, you stupid girl!" He spat, and his tribe released another round of spears. I continued to climb under the restless gaze of the natives, who the "leader" had ordered them to stand down. Once I reached the top of the rock, I sat down, straightened my fedora, and rested. I only had about a minute before I was grabbed from behind, a hand was clapped over my mouth, and I was knocked unconscious.
