"I have a brother?!?" I asked, shocked.
"Yes. Did you not know that?" She asked. I shook my head.
"You let me believe for twenty one years that I was an only child?" I said, infuriated, yet ecstatic. I studied the picture again, this time looking at the detail. They boy's hair was red, bright red. Then my brain made the connection. The pieces started fitting together. I remembered that I had a brother, but a step brother, because my mom and my dad both had children before they married, because my mom had been widowed, and my dad divorced. The boy had the same color hair as my dad. I knew that hair from some where.
"Mom." I said for probably the five hundredth time today.
"Yes?" She said, for probably the ten hundredth time.
"What was my brother's full name?" I asked.
"Nathaniel Fox Bird." She answered.
Oh my gosh. Thoughts ran across my brain the way minnows hurried across a tide pool. Dr. Fox was my brother?!? Wait, what? No freaking way. My phone vibrated in my pocket. I checked it. It was a text from Skyler, who asked me to meet her at Prateorium Museum in a half an hour.
"Hey mom, I gotta go, Skyler wants me to meet her at the museum." I said briefly.
"You're excused, oh and tell Skyler I said hello!" She said.
"Okay! Bye!" I said, fixing the blazer that I wore over my elbow length shirt, and grabbing my hat off the table and the photo before flying out the door. Driving was pointless in Kerria, because the streets were so backed up with cars, and there were so many cross walks, which held back traffic for at least thirty seconds, and it would've taken longer to get there. I held my hat onto my head as I bolted down the streets, scattering flocks of pigeons into gray, feathered clouds. As I dodged people, I came to a couple holding hands, and the only way past was to go in between them. I remembered a trick that my father taught me. I put on an extra burst of speed, and ducked beneath their hands. I turned around while running, and saw the puzzled looks on their faces.
"Sorry!" I said, and continued on my way, with the museum finally in sight. I made my way up the big stone steps, and stood panting I front of Skyler, my hands on my knees.
"You're here. On time." She said in amazement.
"Yup." I breathed heavily. "I'm here."
"Good, I just found out when and where Dr. Fox gets in."
"I just found out that Dr. Fox is my brother."
"Okay, co- wait. What?!?"
"Dr. Fox is my brother."
