The Black Crow
...
3When the clock stroked 12, the bell rang. History class is done. But the teacher told us before going out that there is still, one hour left for History and it'll be continued at 1:00 o'clock. Some groaned but some didn't care. Everyone stepped out of the room. I wonder why no one sat beside me. Well, even I'm with someone, we're still like zombies sitting together and that's okay, I'm used to it anyway, I'm used with the feeling of being left alone.
I ran to the comfort room first before heading out to the canteen. I sat on my usual table since junior high. I munched on my food, eating fast as I can to get out there as soon as possible. Canteen is a torture. No matter how I deny it or hide it, I still felt jealous and insecure to those tables, full of students, roaming with joy and laughter. I wonder how it feels to be one of them-- eating and laughing like there will be no tomorrow. They don't seem to have problems at all.
I lived in my aunt, she was the one making me study or the one paying for my school and needs, so to return the favor, I should study hard and not waste her money in paying my tuition. I have to graduate and get out there, live with my poor mother and buy her things she wants.
I'm slaughtering the vegetables I was eating, slicing it in very little pieces before throwing it inside my mouth. My relatives call me "goat" because I'm a vegetarian, I ate all kinds of vegetables even the ones with bitter tastes. I was doing that when I noticed a pair of shoes trunked with white legs. I looked from down to up to see who own the white legs, standing beside my table. Then there she is, the girl with average look but pretty lips. She tied her long messy hair earlier. She knows table etiquette. She smiled at me which turn into a smirk then a glare. I wonder what happened to her, I ignored her. I drank my glass of water and never look-up at her again.
She seemed didn't care the snob. What a brave girl. She sat on the empty chair across the round table. She put her tray down and started eating. Well, I didn't mind as long as she won't speak. She didn't speak for a long time until...
"Are you gay?" She whispered. It sounds more like a threat than a question.
I looked-up and almost jumped by her whisper as well as her question not to mention she's leaning very close toward me. I have never received a question like that before, so I'm a bit surprised. I looked at her-- wide eyed. She glared at me again. I don't know what to reply. Should I tell her "Let's see if I'm gay" or just ignore her.
I chose the latter. I ignored her.
"Okay, okay...I'm talking to no one..." She said yielding with disbelief. She crossed her arms in her chest, leaned back on her chair-- looking at me intently with too much anger. I think I can feel it. It's burning intensely!
"You know what? You're doomed!" She hissed and stood up and took her tray.
Okay, okay... I just raised a brow and watched her went to a bunch of students. She looked back. I turned away quickly.
I feel bad and stupid.
