Chapter Three: Demi's POV

I spin around to see a boy about 5' 10". I don't recognize him and I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion.

"Umm..." I say, looking down at my salad. The boy grabs it from me and takes my hand. He's wearing a varsity football jacket, which apparently he lettered in. He leads me over to a table and sits me down, placing the salad in front of me. I shake my head. "I'm not hungry."

"Yes, you are. I saw you holding your stomach, like you had hunger cramps." I stare at him.

"Who are you?" I ask. He smiles and sticks out his hand.

"Kevin McHale. And, despite the football jacket, I don't play for the NFL." I laugh and shake his hand. "Are you gonna eat that salad?" He asks. I shake my again.

"No. I told you... I'm not hungry." He raises his eyebrows.

"Why? Why don't you eat?" He asks. I blush.

"I do! And anyways, if I was skipping this meal, it doesn't mean I do it a lot." He sighs.

"Look, I work here. I work at the Subway, and I see you come here with friends. But you never eat. And if you do..." He paused, looking deep in my eyes. "You're in the bathroom for a while after that." I blush and get up from the table angrily.

"You have no right! You can't-" I begin but he stops me.

"Tell me I'm wrong. Look me right in the eyes and tell me that I'm wrong." I can't. I can't do it. Finally I sigh and sit down.

"Am I that obvious?" I ask. He shakes his head.

"No I'm just observant. Please... Just eat this salad." I look at the salad for a very long time before slowly looking up at him.

"I can't." I say, then get up and throw the salad away. But this time he doesn't stop me.
