Aubrey's pov
It was nice to have another girl to talk to at camp. When we walked into the cabin Echo turned to me.
"Mind the mess, I think everyone's at the forges so we've got the place to ourselves." She said cheerfully and I looked around. "What kind of style do you wear?"
"Huh?" I ask looking up from some kind of weird contraption. "Oh umm... Anything I guess."
"Ok then let's see... This is a bit too small for me now so I guess it'll fit you." She handed me a pair of jeans and a CHB shirt. "You can change be find the curtain."
"Thanks." I smile at her and walk behind the curtain -it was just a bed sheet pinned against the two sides of the room.
Getting out of my dirty school uniform felt a lot better because the crusted blood had become itchy and irritating. I slipped into the skinny jeans and CHB shirt and thank the gods they were only slightly too big for me!
"Do they fit?" Echo asked from the other side of the room and I walked out with a small smile.
"Yep!" I grinned and adjusted my necklace.
"Wow that's an awesome necklace!" She said and stepped close enough to get a better look, flipping the blue stone in her hands. "There's so much detail in it..." She murmured.
It was true, my necklace from far away looked like a simple blue stone with a silver clamp around the middle and a silver chain but up close the clamp had a kind of plant growing around in. "Yeah I've had it for years."
"It looks brand new!" She exclaimed and I laughed.
"Yeah I've taken good care of it." I leaned my head forward so our foreheads leaned against each other's.
"Is it real silver?"
"Yeah. It was my mums and before that it was her mums and it goes down for a while."
"Seriously? There's no way it's lasted that long!"
I giggled. "Ok you got me, the chain is only a few years but the stone is a few hundred years."
Echo laughed and said something in a different language.
"What was that?"
Echoes face blushed as red as her hair. "Dutch, I grew up in Holland."
"I thought you had an accent!"
"Yeah, I'm trying to get rid of it." She muttered and I looked at her wide eye'd.
"Why would you do that?"
"It's hard for me to say some words like..." She went bright red, like, even more then before. "Sqwarrel."
"What?" I struggled to keep in a fangirl shriek, that was adorable!
"You know, the fuzzy rodents... Like chipmunks."
"Squirrel?" I asked and she nodded. I leaned forward so our noses were touching and whispered. "I think it's adorable, don't get rid of it."
This time it was my turn to blush, I went bright red. Did I really just do that? Idiot!
Echo didn't seem to mind, her ears went back to their pale-ish colour and she laughed nervously. "Anyway. I don't have any spare jumpers or anything so I found on of my old flannel shirts I haven't worn it since... The Manhattan war so it might be a bit damaged but not too bad, that ok?"
"Yeah that's fine." I answered and she funded me a sea blue and black button up flannel shirt.
When I put it on it had a rip right over the right side of my collar bone.
