Wow. This day couldn't get any worse.

The bell rang and I slammed my books closed. I placed the in my bag and zipped it.

"Damn, Bey, you aight?" Bach asked me.

"Yeah, don't worry bout it," I said grabbing my bag and putting it on. He nodded and walked away.

I have know Bach since grade school. He is a pretty cool guy and his girlfriend is the sweetest. He is a super funny guy, he even does stand up comedy or short funny videos.

I walked out of class and began making my way towards Science lab. I heard someone calling my name. I knew that voice, that's what made me quicken my step.

"BEYONCÉ! Beyoncé!" The persons jogged up to me and gently tapped my arm. "Damn, girl, you don't hear me calling you?"

"I did hear you, Shawn. That's what made me run, I don't think I can name one person that didn't," I said rolling my eyes.

"You know your eyes gonna get stuck up there," he said ignoring my statement.

"I don't care. I only roll my eyes at people who annoy me," I said trying my best not to roll them again.

"Oh, I annoy you? That makes two of us," he said shaking his head.

"What do you want Shawn?" I asked him.

"If you would stop being so self centered for a moment you would know I was going to talk to you about the project," he said seriously.

"What about it, Shawn?" I asked crossing my arms.

"I was just going to say, you better work your ass off on this. I will work my fullest because I want a good grade, and if we don't pass then it's on you," he said.

"You won't have to worry about me, I got this. You should be the one counting his blessings," I said.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I am the person with the highest grades of the class. You should be thankful," I said about to walk away.

"Yo, Beyoncé, hold on," He said reaching in his bag. He pulled out a sheet of paper and handed it to me.

"What's this?" I asked looking at him.

"Read it," he said shrugging.

Shawn Corey Carter:

Math: 98%
Science: 100%
Spanish: 97%
Literature: 99%
Grammar: 100%
P.E: 102%
Art: 100%
Music: 100%
Social Studies: 99%

My jaw dropped looking at his grades. "Cat gotcha tongue?"

"How the-? How did-? How?" I couldn't even talk.

"How Sway? How?" He laughed putting it back in his bag.

"Carter, why don't you tell anyone?" I asked him.

"As much as I hate to say it, you and I are the only people in this class with any type of potential. We are most likely to succeed, so who would I brag to?" He asked shrugging.

"True, well.. Let's meet after class and rent the novel from the library, the sooner we start the sooner we finish," I said and he nodded.
