Marceline
Today was the day.
When Liam and I got back here last night, the four of us just watched random movies on Netflix. It was nice, but Liam was out of it. I could tell.
I moved my suitcase by the front door, where Carter and Niall had put there's. Liam was still sleeping in my room, I didn't want to wake him, he deserved to sleep a little more.
When I walked into the kitchen, Niall and Carter were kissing. I rolled my eyes and passed them, opening the fridge and taking out the last cup of yogurt. The fridge was basically empty.
"Liam still sleeping?" Niall asked. I looked towards them, and saw that Carter was standing behind his boyfriend. He had his arms around his torso, holding him close.
The corners of my lips lifted, and I grabbed a spoon from the drawer. "Yeah. I'll wake him up in a bit."
He nodded, and leaned into Carter.
Since we all were going to be on a plane, well a jet, we all were wearing comfy clothes.
Carter had on a orange tee shirt and gray sweatpants. Niall was wearing a green hoodie and dark blue jeans. I was wearing one of Liam's hoodies, it was custom made with his last name on the back, and was an off white. I was going to wear jeans, but decided on leggings instead. I think Liam was going to wear one of his hoodies and jeans.
"Alright my beauties, I'm heading off to London! I'll be posting stuff on my Insta, and Twitter! I'll still be recording, but I won't be able to have access to good WiFi, so no videos till I get back." Carter smiled as he talked to his camera. He then showed it on Niall, and he gave Carter a look.
"It'll be fun. The whole gang is going." Niall said putting his hand on Carter's cheek and pushing a little.
The camera went on me, I had just put the spoon in my mouth, and my eyes went wide. Carter and Niall both laughed as I swallowed the yogurt.
"That was mean. You guys aren't coming anymore." I threw the yogurt away and cleaned the spoon as Niall talked.
"What did I do? Can I still come?"
"What! No, that's not fair!"
"Sure Niall, you can come. Bye Carter!" I took Niall's arm in mine and we skipped away.
I heard Carter explain the upload schedule, and say bye. I let go of Niall and rolled my eyes.
"I know. He's a piece of work. But we love him." Niall smiled at Carter as he walked into the room.
"I have to quickly edit this and upload it." He held up his camera.
"Okay, have fun, I'll go wake up Liam." I turned and walked to my room. I picked up Ray from his cat tower and petted him as I opened the door.
I've been so busy with work, and Liam, that I haven't been giving Ray a lot of attention. Carter's taken up a lot of the work, and I promised him I would pick it back up after we get back.
Joy was coming later to take Ray to her house. I had already got together some stuff for her to take with, like food and some toys. I knew he would be in good hands.
"Good boy Ray," I whispered scratching behind his ear. He purred loudly, and I placed him down on Liam's chest.
He rubbed against his face, and I carefully sat down on my bed next to him. He looked really adorable sleeping. No matter how many times I see him like this, this will always be my favorite way to see him. He looked so at peace, even though there was so much going on in his pretty little head.
Ray was now sitting on his chest, looking at his face. He licked his chin twice, and jumped off him.
He groaned, and slowly turned his head. With his eyes still closed, he spoke, "The cat? Really?"
Oh man, his morning voice could give me heart palpitations if I wasn't so used to it by now. I smiled down at him and put my hand on his cheek.
He still hasn't opened his eyes. He leaned into my hand and visibly relaxed.
"Li, what's wrong?" I asked carefully, moving my hand to his hair. I ran my fingers on his scalp and he hummed in pleasure.
I did this for about two minutes before he finally opened his eyes. Even though he just woke up, they looked tired. Very much like he didn't get any sleep, but I know he did.
He looked up at me with a small frown tugging at his lips. I couldn't read his mind, and honestly I would give anything just to see what he's thinking. I want to help him. I care immensely about him, and it pains me to see him hurting in any way.
"Baby, please," I moved my hand back to his cheek, and caressed his skin, "let me help you."
He closed his eyes, and put his hand over mine.
"I've been thinking about the shooting."
My heart broke the moment I heard his voice. It was no where near his morning voice, and was far too different from his normal, cheery voice. He really did sound broken.
"I know I shouldn't be, it's done and over with, the guys are gone... but out of all those people who got hurt, and... killed, I can't help but think that I could've done something. I hid in my office, thinking about how I would die. Thinking about my parents. Thinking about you. I know I've told you this already, but I really did think I would never see you again. The thought alone terrified me. Thinking about it now, even with your hand on my face, still terrifies me. I feel like I could've done something. Joey, he ran like a madman through the building, getting people into hiding places. My dad even helped people before going back to my mum. I felt so useless, Marceline. I felt like a waste of space, and maybe, just maybe if I wouldve helped, innocent people wouldn't be dead."
I laid next to Liam, carefully taking him into my arms, and pulling him as close to me as possible. "None of this is your fault Liam. None. Those four bastards decided that they wanted to ruin lives and destroy relationships."
I know I've told him this before, but sometimes to get something across, you have to say it repeatedly.
He nodded his head, and I left a gentle kiss to his forehead.
"Now come on, we should leave soon." I released him and he nodded again. We both stood from the bed, and that's when Liam noticed what I was wearing.
"Wearing my clothes, huh?" He said with a lopsided smile as he grabbed his jeans off my dresser.
"It reminds me of you."
Liam was directly in the middle of putting his hoodie on when I said that. He froze for a moment, finished getting it on, and then walked up to me, putting his hands on either sides of my face.
"That was by far, the cutest thing you have ever said, and I can safety say that you are perfect." He connected our lips, and we both eagerly kissed the other.
I pulled away before it got too far, and looked up at Liam with loving eyes. He stared back with the same emotion, and closed his eyes as he leaned forward and left a soft, loving kiss to my lips.
"You really are the best thing to ever happen to me. Who knew that one sentence I said so long ago when we were kids would mean so much now." I put my hands on Liam's chest and leaned closer to him, listening to him talk, and feeling the vibrations coming from his chest.
"Who knew all it took was the bravery of one little girl, who said hi to a strange boy who was sitting alone at a park." I said closing my eyes and enjoying this moment more than anything.
We stood like that for a while. Liam's arms around my body, me listening to his steady heartbeat as I was imposobly close to him.
Eventually, I was the one to break the silence, and end the moment. "We should go, we don't want to get there at an awkward time."
