Premonition.
prēməˈniSHən
noun
A strong feeling that something is about to happen, esp. something unpleasant.
It's all I feel. This...premonition.
My blood is pumping, scorning as it was bitten from the only sun I know. His words are now poison running through my veins as I look at him in his crystal eyes. Those were the eyes I avoided when laid down on his bed.
Now they are in front of me.
A part of me.
My head involuntarily shakes; my breathing unavailable.
"You always tried to run, Charlie. Even as the train station when you saw me, you ran." He coos, stepping closer to his lips are by my ear. I stay still, frozen as if death has already consumed me.
"But you can't escape blood." He whispers and I close my head.
"You are not my father." I shake my head, but there are certain things that begin to make sense. Like why my blood is gushed and my hearts beats faster when by him. I am not sure why I have not sunk to the ground in defeat yet, knowing my whole life has been a lie.
I can't find Ellie's voice. I should have listened to her and ran out of that coffee shop. She knew. She knew that he was our father.
"You cant..." I begin to stutter but my mom pulls me back with an outstretched arm.
She looks me in the eye for a long moment and then the truth washes over me.
"How could you!" I scream at her, snagging my arm away from her grasp.
Slowly I turn to the boogeyman. Boogeyman. That's exactly what he is. Nothing more.
"You! You are not my father! You are sick, you sick, physcogenic man!" I yell stepping away from the both of them.
"Your mom hid you from me for eight years! I didn't know I had daughters for eight years!" he roars, lighting sparks in his eyes.
I shake my head viciously. I am trying to shut him out, to shut everything out, my outraged thoughts included but the world is just too loud for me.
"I should of taken your damn husband here and finished him myself. He's just as in this as you are." The boogeyman steps closer to my mom, grabbing her wrist. She squeals and I step forward, but then stop myself.
"You aren't my father." I shake my head once more. "My fathers name is Anthony James Parker. He's 42 and he likes dogs more than kids like ice cream. He's my father. He has always been my father. You are a mad man." I whisper in aghast.
He looks at me and throws his head back laughing. "Look at you my darling, so incompetent." He smiles, turning his face to my mother.
"Tell her, tell her how you pulled it off."
"Charlotte, I did this to protect you not hurt you." She whispers as tears fall from my eyes.
"Ellie's dead Mom. You did hurt me." I cry out.
"Tell her, Evelyn."
"I met Gary and got pregnant at age 19. I got scared, you were abusive Gary, so I left. I fucking left you and I found myself a good man, a good, nice man! You could never be as good to me as he is!" she screams.
"He'll be no good when his throat is slit." The boogeyman gets into her face. She stares him down with such cold eyes; it's hard to believe that this is my mother in front of me.
