Avi held his breath while his hand pressed to the warmth he found in Rayne's jeans. In that moment, he held all the cards. He was in complete control of them both, yet all he could do was hold his breath while she held hers. The moment seemed to be suspended in time. He could feel her mouth hot on his, his heart pounding in his chest, her heart pounding against his, her body very hot in his hand. Rayne's back arched slightly, pressing his hand hard against her. This was his moment. He had to remind himself that he'd been down this road before despite not ever really having been. He knew how to touch a woman just right, how to bring her to the edge of the canyon that was desire and lead her all the way up to the peak of the highest mountain, with just that touch. But, unlike all the other times he had done that for the woman that he loved, these moments were just a prelude to a much more critical and significant moment in his life. He wanted to do it right for her and himself. He really wanted to do right by Rayne. It was a moment he wanted to share with her, this beautiful woman resting on his arm. Rayne, she was a woman he knew he could call his, that he wanted to for the rest of his life.
He had been alone in the still darkness with women that pulled at his heart strings before, had the woman in the same state of undress even. Yet, this was different, very different. All those times Avi never intended to go much further, never wanted to give himself to the woman that lay with him. Never wanted to let her explore and touch him in return. He never intended for that woman to get to know every inch of the skin that covered him, to touch him or to get to know her so intimately. He intended to do just that with Rayne. He was never there with a woman snuggled as close to him as space would allow, their feet tangled, his hand in her jeans, her hand on his waist and his pants undone. He felt exposed and swollen and a touch insecure. Good gods he was losing his mind. Avi had never been like that with any woman, let alone with the one that he had completely given his heart to.
When he recovered the ability to breathe, Avi found he was breathless. His mind was screaming: 'Now what you fool? His body let's go, hurry.' He fought and struggled to remain calm and in control of the situation. He knew he had to. If Rayne took the lead he doubted that they'd get much further but then again, he was certain that she would guide him gently into her and watch the wonder in his eyes as she took him to the mountain. Rayne was made of love and compassion and Avi was lost in her. He wasn't sure if he'd be disappointed by either. Depending on how things went, him losing control might actually be best for them both.
His heart pounded, his mind raced and his body ached. He felt his need for her, solid and ready to do what it was designed to do. He knew that if she looked she wouldn't be able to miss it. He was so hungry and ready for her. Avi was still breathless as he began to do the only thing his useless mind could think to do. He kissed Rayne as slowly as he knew how. He didn't move his hand as he let his heart pour into her. He poured his every emotion into that slow loving kiss. Warm, tender and sensual, the kiss lingered until his mind quieted and he could think clearly enough to decide to take the next step. He had never been so overwhelmed, his emotions overruling his body, his lust overriding it all. He continued to kiss her, taking first her top lip then her bottom, letting her breathe with him between each stroke of his lips, gently biting at her bottom lip only to follow the motion with a brush of his tongue over the bite. Avi moved his fingers gently pressing against her before moving his hand to the band of her jeans again. They were still in his way, he needed them gone for the next part of their journey. Everything else was in his way too. He really needed it all gone. He wanted and needed her naked beneath him.
Avi put his hand inside Rayne's jeans on her hip as he pulled closer to her, closing the gap between them and preventing her wandering hand from touching him and setting him off again. He had to see her eyes once more. Needed to know what he would find in them. Avi broke the kiss, smiled at Rayne's whimper, and watched her. Her eyes were closed. She had a warm contented look on her angelic face. Slowly she opened her eyes to look at him. She truly looked like an angel to him, laying on his arm warm and secure. Her smile was small, but bright as she smiled at him. Her eyes alight with love. Suddenly Avi knew exactly what needed to happen to get those jeans out of his way. He smiled at her, his plan firmly in place now.
