Previous Chapter:

I turned on my heel and made my way to the entrance of Tessa's bedroom door. Before I turned the the handle, I felt strong man-like hands around my wrist. Before I could stop myself, I turned around only to become face-to-face with Josh. Okay, this was way too close for my comfort zone.

"Um, what are you doing?" I asked Josh finally.

"Sorry, I just meant to stop you from leaving", Josh apologized scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. Tessa coughed gaining the attention of both Josh and I. Something tells me it's going to be a long night.

Unfortunately, I ended up staying in Tessa's room with Josh because for some reason he didn't want me to leave.

"This is Cat's and mine 10th birthday, we totally went crazy at that one," Tessa said pointing at one of the photos.

"I'm just going to go return the drinks tray. I'll be back soon," I said even though I doubt Josh or Tessa heard me due to them being so involved with looking at the photos. I exited the room, this time not being interrupted by anyone. I left the tray on the bench but before I could leave I was interrupted by Mum's voice. Seriously, what was with everyone interrupting me today?

"Hey Cat, could you just quickly clean up the dinner table. We finished eating a while ago and the plates are still on the table," she asked me.

I sighed before answering, "Yeah sure, it's not like I've got anything better to do. Why can't Tessa do it?"

"I'm sure Tessa's busy with Josh. Anyways you said you have nothing better to do," Mum said. Well it was true so without anymore complaining, I went to the dining room to clean up after the parents. I picked up the plates carefully trying my best not to drop any of them. One time I accidentally dropped one of the plates and Mum went spastic at me. I'm sure she wouldn't be afraid to do it again. Thankfully, I made it to the kitchen with causing a mess. I cleaned up the table before heading up the stairs. I walked into the room feeling exhausted.

"Hey Cat, where'd you go?" Josh asked as soon as I walked into the room.

"Umm, I just went downstairs to put away the drinks and then my mum made me clean up the table," I said. "I didn't miss out on anything, did I?," I asked noticing that the albums weren't on the bed anymore.

"No, Tessa and I were just talking about tomorrow's tennis match. Your still coming, right?" Josh asked me. I couldn't say no because Josh seemed so eager to go tomorrow.

"Yeah, I am," I said still uncertain about going or not. Yeah sure, it's not only because I don't remember how to play but also because I don't want to be stuck as the third wheeler.

"I don't want to come to school on my first day and be a loner so at least I can know a few people," Josh said. " Do you guys go to Constance High?"Josh asked Tessa and I.

"Yeah we do, I'm sure I could introduce you to a couple of my friends," Tessa said. Before any of us could reply, I heard my mum calling us from the bottom of the stairs.

"Josh, Tessa, Cat!," Mum said.

"Yeah?," I said opening the door before asking.

"Tell Tessa and Josh to come downstairs because Josh is going home soon."

I turned to Josh and Tessa, "Josh you might want to come downstairs because you're going home soon." Josh came through the door soon followed by Tessa. I followed shortly after standing a good 5 metres behind Josh and Tessa.
