Chapter 18

Laura pulls Riker away from the crowd and speaks to him in private. "This does not concern you Vanessa, so don't follow us."

"Can I follow you?" Rocky eyes Laura down.

"Okay, Rocky. Let me put this in a way you'll understand," Laura starts quoting with her fingers. "I'm. Not. Interested. Never. Gonna. Happen." Laura fake smiles at Rocky and pulls Riker upstairs with her.

"She so wants me." Rocky winks and tells his siblings.

Ross rolls his eyes.

"Don't think I don't know what you've been up to, Lynch. I know what you've been up to. You're cheating on my sister! I thought you were a nice guy but clearly I was wrong." Laura crosses her arms and her eyes widen at Riker.

Riker thinks about what she said and then realizes what she's talking about. "Oh. You saw the Instagram comments. Listen, I've been dating Emily for a few months, I was going to go on a last date with her to tell her it's over. I'm really starting to fall for your sister. I'm not the type of guy that breaks up with someone over the phone, it's just not me. I'm not secretive either, that's why I told Van about all this. She's the one I really want." Riker opens up and let's out a deep breath.

Laura stands there, shocked. "Wow, you really are a nice guy, huh?"

"I'd like to think I am, yes." Riker chuckles.

"Well, I'm sorry for cornering you like this. Hope you can forgive me." Laura apologizes.

"Of course, Laura! I would hate to lose my friendship with you." Riker hugs Laura.

Laura hugs back.

After a few seconds, they release.

"And may I ask, what's the deal with Ross? That boy hates me for some reason. Not that I don't feel the same way but you know." Laura looks up at the ceiling.

Riker starts to laugh. "You like Ross! You like Ross!"

"What? Shut up! You're so loud! I so do not. He's an annoying, immature scumbag." Laura rolls her eyes.

"Oh come on, Laura. I see the way you look at him. You got a thing for him." Riker blurts, with a reassuring look that tells her she could tell him anything.

"I am so happy with Harry. I have no idea what you're talking about." Laura rolls her eyes and goes downstairs.

"Hey e-"

Laura looks around to see that everyone is gone, except for Ross.

"Ugh." As Laura was about to walk away, a hand on her back stops her.

"Where are you going?" Ross stares at her, with a smirk.

"Anywhere but here." Laura rolls her eyes.

"Okay, I might not have been too forward with you from the start Laura, but the truth is I'm actually a nice guy." Ross puts a hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah, okay. Good luck with that." Laura giggles and walks away.

Ross's POV

How can I make her see it.. Why do I care so god damn much? Oh who am I kidding, she's the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on. If that jerk she's with does anything to make her sad I will kill him in an instant and not think twice about it.

Laura's POV

Was what Riker said about me really true? I mean, I couldn't stop thinking about Ross all night after the encounter with him. But, are they good feelings or bad feelings? Mixed feelings? Aside from that, he's SOOO HOT! Whoa, Laura. Contain yourself. Uh, that boy makes me crazy! All I know is I got to find Van, now. She's probably with Riker, if I know by now.

All of the sudden, I heard their voices from Riker's room.

"You are so hot, Van. You make me want to do scandalous things to y-"

Before I let him finish, I open the door swiftly. I had to stop whatever he was going to say.

"Laura, I'm not speaking to you right now." Vanessa looks away.

"Riker, can you give me and Van a minute?" I look down at the ground.

"Of course." Riker walks out of the room.

I sit on Riker's bed with Vanessa. I look around his blue bedroom and see he has R5 posters everywhere. It was pretty cool. I snap out of my thoughts from a poke from Vanessa. I took a deep breath and started to pour my feelings out. "Listen, I am so sorry about how I treated you. I would take it all back if I could. I found out the truth from Riker and I totally misjudged him. It's just that we've only known him for a day so we don't really know that much about him. Though, I could tell he was a good guy from the beginning. My sister instincts got the best of me. I hope you can forgive me."

"Of course, Laur! Nothing could ever keep me mad at you. You're my best friend! I also get why you misjudged him. We haven't been here long at all. I accept your apology." Vanessa hugs me and I hug her back.

I still haven't gotten a chance to tell her the news about Raini and Calum, maybe now was the best time for that.

"I also got some news. RAINI AND CALUM ARE MOVING TO CALIFORNIA!!!!" I cheered. I couldn't contain myself, I was so happy.

Vanessa started jumping up and down. "OH MY GOD!!!! I THOUGHT I WOULD'VE SEEN THE LAST OF CALUM 2 YEARS AGO!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I MISS THEM!"

I jumped up and down with her.

Maybe the new life wasn't so bad after all.
