05 | BEWARE × OF × PRISONERS
"HOWEVER, THE ACTUAL FIGHTS WILL NOT BE QUITE SO SIMPLE," Lippo added, "The prisoners' sentences will be reduced by one year, for every hour they delay the applicants here. In other words, their goal is also to buy time."
"I understand..." began Kurapika. "We must reach the goal within seventy-two hours. So time will be critical during these fights."
"Okay, I'm up first," the man with the scars notified. "Choose your first combatant!"
Everyone was filled with confused, unsure of what to do. "What do we do?" inquired Killua. "He said we can use any method so that means everything goes."
"We don't know what they're trying to pull here," Leorio cautioned.
"There's too much to stake without knowing how many things they have up their slevees," Kurapika inhaled. "Given that, I shall.."
Kurapika attempted to offer himself up, however, [Y/N] interfered with his decision. "No, I'll go," she volunteered. All their eyes widened, except for Killua. He was amused.
Kurapika shook his head. "I can't allow that happen."
She nudge him playfully. "Have some faith in me, Kurapika," she paused. "I might even surprise you."
Kurapika gave up. "Alright."
"Then it's settle then," she concurred.
A bridge appeared and slowly connected itself to the ground across to make a passage to the center of the platform. The group cheered her on and Killua gave her a subtle thumbs up. She couldn't help but smile. This was the first time someone stood in her corner, being encouraging and supportive.
She stepped on the platform. "Now, let's determined the method of combat," the guy smirked. "I proposed a death match."
Her eyes widened. "A death match?"
