Forgetful

  You ever feel, like, when you leave, or when someone leaves, they will forget you over time, or you'll start to have them fade from your memory. And you make new memories with new people, and something, a smell, a picture, or a saying that you remember sparks something in your mind and you go, "Where did I hear that from?" Or "Where did I smell that?" Or "Where have I seen that?", and you can't remember, and you let it slip your mind as the day goes, just like you let that person slip your mind, just like they let you slip their mind...You'll never remember and if you do, it won't be the same ever again...One day, you'll forget everyone you know now, even me, and I will forget you. That's what the adults say, they say, "Don't live in the past...Look to your future, the people you know now, ain't gonna help you get a job." Well, if I can't live in the past, and I only have to look forward, then what are rear view mirrors for? Why do we look in the rear view mirror in a car? Because we need to be reminded that there are cars behind us. We need that mirror, a mirror reflects, and I want to reflect on everyday I spend with my past friends, I don't want to forget, but I know I will. So I will live life for the moment, so I can reflect on its past. But I won't live life for the future, because I don't want to leave the past. I will muse on the past. Because that's where the best things have already happened. I smile upon the past, and I cry upon the past. But you can't cry on the future, unless you know what will happen, and if you do, then live life for the moment. If you don't, dream about the past. The future to me, is just a reminder that the past will no longer happen the way it did when it did
