I walk myself to my locker, and do my combination, opening it, then grabbing my text books in exchange of hanging my backpack on the metallic hook. I lean my violin case on the side of the locker.Closing it behind me, I see one of the popular girls next to me. Of course I knew her. "Hi, Blake. I was just wondering if you were interested in any of the boys that are popular. Definitely not Gabriel, right? That's sweet, every girl likes him. But we're dating-"
I cut her off completely. "I don't like him. I don't like anyone, and I don't know why you're talking to me now, Stephanie." I start to walk to my class.
She tries to rush over in her heels, and she does but not as fast, and walks by my side. "Everyone calls me Steph, and your hair used to be brown, right? I mean I know it was, your eyebrows are brown."
"I'm aware of that."
"Why don't you ever put yourself out there, you know?"
I pause, as in, stop walking. She stops shortly after realizing I stopped, then walks back to me. "What do you mean, put myself out there?"
"Have friends, hang out with people, those things." She adjusts her plaid skirt. Stephanie's hair is a dark brown, and she has brown eyes. She always has two buttons undone, unlike one like me. Her socks are up to mid-thigh, and wears heels.
"I don't think I need them. They'll just turn their backs on you once they're done with you. Speaking of, where are your friends?"
"Not all people are like that, I'm not like that."
"Even if they weren't, I don't need anyone." I walk past her, and into my classroom.

The lunch bell rings, and we all wait for our reading/English teacher to dismiss us. "Alright, class, remember to read chapters three to five. We're discussing it tomorrow. You are dismissed for today." Ms. Grey announces.
I stand up, gathering my textbooks and book for this class. "Miss Walker, stay for a minute. I'd like to have a word with you."
She better not say anything about me being friendless. The rest of the class leaves to lunch. I walk towards her desk. "Yes, Ms. Grey?"
"The other teachers and I were talking about our students' grades, and we came across to yours."
"We're they bad?"
"No, Blake. They are astounding! You're working at a higher level than the rest of your classes."
"Thanks."
She smiles then says, "You may go to lunch."
I smile back, and open the door to leave. That's when Ms. Grey says something after me. "Mr. McCarthy wants to see you after school, something about a music competition."
"Ok." Then I walk my way to the very crowded cafeteria.
I sit by myself, but today Stephanie and two of her friends sit at my table.
"Hey, Blake." Stephanie greets, with a smile.
"Hi, Steph." I greet back, using her preferred name.
"This is Cassie, and Jess. Girls, this is Blake."
Cassie had straight blonde hair and blue eyes, while Jess had wavy brown hair and hazel eyes.
"Are you new?" Cassie asks me.
"No," I simply reply. "I've been at this school since freshman year."
"I've never seen you around, who do you hang out with?" Jess asks.
"No one, I don't have friends."
"You must be so helpless!" Cassie cries out, causing heads to turn.
"Cassie, she's fine. Why are you being so dramatic?" Stephanie joins the conversation.
I sigh before starting to eat my burger. Sure, cafeteria food is terrible, but I need to get some food in me before I pass out. The girls sitting next to me only eat salad. What is that even?

After lunch, I only have one class- math- then a free period left in the school day.
I open my locker, and grab my math textbook along with a pencil in exchange for my reading, chemistry, biology, p.e bag, and social studies material.
Mrs. Smith, the math teacher, gave us this whole lecture about how bad it is to fail math. Of course, I already pass so I don't need to worry about it.
I take my usual seat in her class and so does everyone else, and she begins to take attendance by rows. "Row one. Carly Pry, Augustus Bray, Bianca Dewey?"
"Here." They say.
"Row two. Steven Kane, Miranda Tora, Blake Walker?"
"Here." We say, cheerfully. Row two and three are for the smart students, just saying.
"Row three. Gabriel Matthews, Lexie Greene, Mia Patterson?"
"Here."
"Row four. Blake Sanders, Reina Sherman, Jackson Lerman?"
"Here."
I know, there's only twelve kids in the class. That's just how many she got.
"Alright, class. Today we are going to do some problems. I've already paired you up into twos. Carly with Jackson, Augustus with Reina, Bianca with Steven, Miranda with Lexie, Blake Walker with Blake Sanders, and Gabriel with Mia. Remember to collaborate. Get with your partner."
Blake drags his chair to my desk. "Hey there, Second Blake," he greets, smiling, while sitting down.
"Hi.. First Blake." I reply back.
"Let's get started, right? I don't know what to do."
I sigh. "Of course you don't."
We spend our math period figuring out the problems written on the board. Surprisingly, Blake and I finish all twenty problems. He wasn't that bad at math.
The bell rings, and Mrs. Smith collects our work papers, and dismisses the class.
It's my free period, and I decide to get my violin from my locker. I walk over to my locker, and grab my violin case.
I head into the music room, and open my case to pull out my violin. I place it under my chin as I hold the bow. That's when I start pouring out emotion through sound.
