Chapter Three

Meredith

The elevator dings signaling I am on the top floor. I breathe a nervous sigh and step out onto the office floor. I got this. Yeah. I walk up to the receptionists who is talking to someone on the phone. I wait until she is finished and tell her my name.

"It's nice to meet you Meredith. My name is Rain and I will be walking you around today telling you the basics. How about we start with your desk?" She holds out her hand for me to shake.

"It's nice to meet you Rain and sounds great." I say with a smile. I'm so nervous what if I forget everything?

"Well this is were you'll be working. You'll come in every morning at 8:15 and bring Mr. De Laurentis his coffee. He usually gets in around that time. You will be working very close with him." Wait I thought that I was just his secretary?

"Uh-I thought I was just the secretary?"I don't want to offend her but I thought that was a PA's job.

"You are, but he already has two secretaries. Me and a back up. So you'll be more like a personal assistant." She keeps walking and shows me the brake room. I simply nod along taking everything in. 

It's 8:10 by the time we come to the end of the tour. Rain leaves me to go back to her desk and I go make Mr. Laurentis his coffee. He likes it black with two sugars. 

I walk to his office and knock on the door. No reply. I knock again just in case he didn't hear me the first time. 

"Come in." A deep voice murmurs.

I take a deep breath and open the door. 

"Sorry to disturb you. I just wanted to bring you you're coffee." I mumble and walk in. I take a look around and then my eyes land on him. His chair is facing the window so I can't really see his face. 

"That's fine." I sit the coffee on the table and rub my wrist. 

"Is there anything else you need me to do sir?" He turns around in his chair and everything around me stops.

Austin?

"As a matter of fact yes can you bri-me -Meredith?" I stand there with my eyes wide open. This is the man who almost took my virginity. The man that my father almost killed because he told him that he was in love with me. The asshole that left without so much as a goodbye. And yet he's sitting right in front of me - with a corporate office like nothing ever happened! I hold tears as unwanted memories come back and turn to storm out. I can't do this, I can't relive those memories. Somehow, he quickly made it around his deck before I could run out the door and grabbed my wrists.

"If you think i'm letting you go again Mer, then you forgot who I am," he growls into my ear as he presses me up against the door. Is he serious? I never told him to leave in the first place!

"Are you serious! You fucking left me-not the other way around! And you have the nerve to actually hit me with that shit, really?" I don't even try to keep my voice down.

"Meredith-" I don't let him finish he doesn't deserve to finish. For 6 years I've been waiting to say this to him and he's gonna hear it.

"No. I'm not done. You could have had me. We could have ran away together but no." I scream hitting him in the chest. "You fucking selfish asshole! I cried for two years. Two years after you left! I was a joke! A fucking joke!" I continue to hit me and he eats everything I throw. And then I stop, he still holds onto me. "You know what i'm not wasting another breath on you or this because I didn't sign up for this and if I kill you I won't get anywhere and I'll just end up feeling like shit in the end." I shove him off as hard as I can and regain my composure.
