Chace and I decide to go out for brunch, where we sit across from each other at an outdoor seating area with Evie in his arms, bouncing on his lap. The trees behind us swing left with the wind while cars on the street drive slowly to their destination.

"This my dear is your favourite place to eat" Chace explains.

I smile, looking down at the menu.

"I think I'll get the smashed pumpkin on toast" I announce.

Chace smirks. "Of course"

Suddenly three plates of food come out, a plate of fried eggs and bacon that the waiter places in front of Chace. Pancakes for Evie and a plate of smashed pumpkin on toast is placed in front of me.

I look up at Chace in surprise.

"You order the same thing whenever we come here" he admits with a smirk.

Suddenly my phone begins buzzing from my handbag. I pull it out to find Jane's name across the screen. I look up at Chace.

"You can answer it if you want" he assures, "we'll wait"

I nod before jumping up from my seat and walking on to the side of the street to take the call.

"Hello," I greet.

"Hey Halia, I was getting worried, you never got back to me" Jane starts slowly, "I was just wondering if you still wanted to catch up over coffee or something to go through everything"

"Go through everything?" I furrow my brows.

"Look I can tell you whatever you need to know but If I do it, it has to be somewhere where Daniel isn't. It's too much to do it over the phone" she explains.

"I don't know, Jane" I shrug.

"Do you still want my help, Halia?" She lowers her voice.

I look over my shoulder at Chace bouncing Evie on his knee as they sit around the table. What if whatever she's got to tell me will ruin all my chances of being happy?

"No" I drop my gaze to my shoes. "I don't think I need it anymore"

"Well okay then," she says.

"Just one last thing, Jane" I start, "if that's okay?"

"Yeah of course"

"Is it true that my memories could be wrong? Like the ones I remember could be all twisted up?"

There's a pause on the other line.

"I don't know, I guess it could be possible" she answers.

I nod.

"Okay, thank you" I sigh before ending the call.

I rejoin my husband and baby around the table.

"Who was that?" He asks.

"Jane from the hospital"

"Oh really, what she wants?"

I shrug.

"Just to see how I am"
