The school's second bell rang. I went to the class. Everything was normal. Teachers were teaching. Students were studying. Until gym class. It happened something strange and pretty scary. That thing changed my life forever. Not only mine, but whole our world's life.

The gym class started as normal. We were running. Some of the students began to feel sick. They could barely stand on their feet. The fever raised higher and higher every minute. The teacher called 911.

"Hello, is it 911?", she asked. Nobody picked up the call.

After few minutes the teacher and more students were lying on the floor. I understood. It was going on something extraordinary.

I ran from there as fast as I could.
The school's corridors were the worst part. They looked dark. I always was afraid of them. But for this moment, they looked even scarier. I heard a noise behind my back. It was a scream. I didn't look back as I ran.

The school security guards stood in front of the door. They took care of students who brought guns in our school. Usually, they were always talking or laughing, but now they were only standing. I ran closer. They turned around. Really slowly. Their faces were covered in blood. Their eyes were red, with circles under them. The skin of their faces seemed to become very pale.

I stumbled on a lying book. They heard me. Their footsteps went towards my direction, faster and faster. My heart almost jumped out of my chest! I needed a new plan. I remembered the locker room at the gym had an exit without any guards.

I was out of the energy, and those men were after me. I tried to walk faster. The last corridor was occupied with some chairs. I accidentally slipped over a chair.

The guard named Tim, took my leg. He tried to put it in his mouth. Suddenly one boy saw everything. He took his pocket knife and smashed it into men's head. He grabbed my hand, helped me to stand up. We didn't talk much, but he explained me what's happening.

"Sorry for the bad news, but the world is going down. This kind of decease is spreading fast."explained he.

"What kind of decease? Were those two men dead or alive"asked I.

As he continued: "the first thing is the high fever. Your body can't stand it, so you kinda "burn" inside. And then, when you die, you turn into a monster."

I stopped walking. Speechless. "What are we going to do now?" Sobbed I.

"Go home. Call your parents. But please do not enter the city. Please!"
He said quietly as I could even hear his breath. I nodded. He glanced at me. It looked like he was worried for me.

"My name is Alexander by the way", mumbled he.

" And my name is Katelyn", I said as I looked down. "Can I have your number? Just in case."

He nodded.

After 6,5 minutes I already was at my house. I grabbed my phone quickly. Then called my mom. She didn't pick the phone at the first call, but she did after the second. "What's wrong, sweetie?" she asked.

" Mom, go home now. Please!" I shouted.

"I can't now. I'm working on a really expensive dress", she said.

By the way, she was a designer. She spent a lot of time at her room than being with us. My father worked at a police station. I didn't called him, because I knew he wasn't going to pick it anyway, he always forgets his phone at home. My small brother went to a kindergarten in the city, near my moms job.
We lived near a megapolis. New York. Our house was kinda big. I went to school near home.

The clock was almost 5 pm. I was still alone at home. I couldn't take it anymore. I found a big backpack (for a plan B). I put some warm clothes and some food with water in there. It was heavy, but I didn't mind. I took it over my shoulders. I had a bike, so I cycled to The big city as fast as I could. The leg muscles almost exploded because of my fast cycling. The evening was still light. Not any longer until I was in the city. A lot of cars were moving from the city. Chaos. Screaming and shouting, and shouting and screaming. It was the only thing I could hear. My mom worked at a huge building. As when I drove there, the lights went down as domino bricks. The monster herd was moving fast into my direction. The bicycle went out of my hands. I took my heavy backpack over my shoulders as I was falling evrrytime I tried to run. The ground was wet. Bloody wet...
