Chapter Four – “Passing”
Some say when you lose someone that you love; you lose a part of yourself. Some suffer more than others, some want revenge and some just want forgiveness. You never realise how much death affects someone until after the harm has been done. It can cause people to change; it can make you lose more than one person you love.
-Jason-
“Where’s Alex?” I sighed. “You know, this is your fault for not getting the toy plane like we asked!”
Timothy shot me a glare which I ignored. I was beginning to hate his guts, why was this guy with us anyway? All I needed was my brother; he was all I needed ever. I knew he’d stay with me until the end of time, doing what we love, Revenge.
I was beginning to worry. I never knew it took two hours to go get a few supplies. I knew we needed ice for one of the bombs, so he’d only be ten minutes down the road to a quiet little store.
“Look, I bet that’s him.” Timothy said as I heard a car come to a halt just outside the warehouse.
“How do you know it’s him and not the police?”
“They can’t work it out within a few hours, stop being paranoid McCann.”
Not unless someone ratted us out. But then again, if they knew it was us and they knew we were here then they’d probably use their stupid police sirens. A knock at the door made me stand uneasy and I approached it slowly.
The person got impatient waiting and knocked loudly again.
“Jason it’s me. Ralph.”
I walked faster, feeling relieved. I pryed open the door with a small smile, happy to see him. But his expression told me he wasn’t happy to see me. He looked like he was in pain, like he was holding back tears. Ralph was strong, if he was sad, something bad must have happened.
I felt something in my stomach weigh me down at a thought that crossed my mind. I swallowed, telling myself that Alex was fine and still at the store.
“Jason, I need to talk to Timothy alone.”
Timothy? Ralph didn’t always seem to have much respect for Timothy. He made sure to keep away from him. Ralph despised him even more than I did which confirmed that something was wrong, something that could hurt me.
I nodded, allowing Ralph and Timothy to be alone. I stepped out the front door in which Ralph had just entered in and sat beside his car. I pulled my knees to my chest and let my mind wander to conclusions.
I felt like Alex needed me, I felt like I should be with him right now. What if he was hurt?
-Sasha-
I sat quietly in my room, playing various games on my phone to pass the time. Dad was sorting out the mail and Leroy was still out. I was bored already so I decided to go make small talk with dad.
“Hey.”
“Hey Sophie. Did you hear about the shooting today?” Dad asked, starting up a conversation.
I frowned, knitting my eyebrows together. “No? But I saw a lot of police cars an hour before seeing you...”
“Oh. That would be them.” he looked up from the letter he was reading, “They got the criminal who bombed the funeral.”
“Did they...kill him?” I asked slowly.
He nodded. “Yeah. They shot him while he was walking out of the store with a bag of ice.”
