Chapter Four
I plopped myself in a theater seat and jiggled slightly to flip it under my butt."Let me help." Grace giggled.
"Shut up, it's not funny!" I pouted as she pulled down my chair with ease.
"Of course not." She shrugged, still giggling. My girlfriend could be a bit of an ass sometimes.
"I love you." I sighed happily, snuggling comfortably into her side.
"Make yourself at home!" She scowled playfully. I returned the look. Rolling her eyes, she slid her arm around me.
"Why'd you wanna see this anyway? It's gonna be a huge letdown from the original Jurassic Park." I warned her skeptically.
"Nuh-uh!" Grace whined like a child. "It's supposed to be a continuation of the story, and the special Besides, it has Chris Pratt! There's no way I'm passing up a look at him!" She licked her lips for emphasis. I laughed.
"True that." Even if I was sure I was a lesbian, we still appreciated the male physique.
"Although," she smiled. "It would be better if it had Jensen Ackles." Grace murmured thoughtfully.
I scoffed. "Well, of course it would be!"
There was a bit of silence where both of us tried to think of something to say next, and Grace was first to break it.
"So how'd things go with your mom?" She asked tentatively. I shrugged.
"It wasn't pleasant, but she told me to go talk to my dad. And I found out something about my family. I haven't talked to Dad in years though, so it was kinda weird being there at first. He actually pointed a gun at me because he didn't know who I was, but when I turned around and he saw it was me, he threw the thing aside and hugged me." I smiled fondly.
"He told me how much he regretted leaving. Gracie, it wasn't my fault." I turned around in her lap to face her. "He didn't leave because of me. It wasn't my fault. He wanted me. He really did, Gracie!" I wrapped my arms around her as much as I could. I'd always believed... I thought he didn't love me. I thought maybe I'd done something awful. But it wasn't me! It was Mom!" I cried softly into Grace, and she rubbed my back.
"Aw, honey..." She looked down at me sadly.
I pulled back and wiped my tears with the sleeve of my hoodie. "Grace," I said, having recomposed myself. "He never wanted to leave. He and Mom and fought so much and he left her, but he always regretted not taking me with him. He loves me. All of me." I closed my eyes, too happy to not cry again.
Grace hugged me tightly. "I'm so happy for you, Ali." She grinned at me when she pulled away.
"I never knew. I hadn't dreamed of having a dad in my life, and even if he's here late, he's here. That's all I've ever wanted." I turned back around to the movie screen while Grace ran her fingers through my rose-colored hair. The previews began to play and I settled in for Jurassic World. Which I was sure wasn't going to beat Jurassic Park.
"Oh my god, that is my favorite movie ever!" I squealed as we walked into the parking lot. Grace rolled her eyes.
"Thought you said it would suck?" She smirked.
I shook my head vigorously, giving myself a headache. "No, it was incredible! Chris Pratt is an amazing actor and the special effects were off the charts! All of it gave me life!" Okay, so maybe I was exaggerating, but it was awesome!
Grace grinned at me. "You're such a nerd." I preened and pretended to push up nonexistent glasses, snorting the word 'calculus.'
"Oh my god, you're drunk." Grace laughed, bending over the steering wheel of her Honda before putting it in drive.
