Chapter 3.
"Do you really think I should do it?" I ask Wren "I mean, I know she will pay me, but what she did to you, how can you be so-"
"Hazel, for once in your life time don't think about anybody else, think about the money you'll get!" Wren tells me, he smiles and turns me towards the library entrance. I really didn't want to make a poster for the girl who cheated on my best friend, even if that meant I would get extra money for myself.
"Look, okay I'll do it" I walked inside the library and searched for a blonde girl, almost nobody was in the library during lunch, so it would be easy to find her. The library was one of the places I loved, the smell of old books, the quietness, it was like a safe heaven. I walked around for a couple of seconds before spotting her near some magazines, with hesitation I made my way to her and cleared my throat.
"Hey" I say, she turns around as if alarmed and gives me a small grin.
"Hello, I have the design here, I'll pay you of course" she tells me, I nod and bite the inside of my cheek, just out of habit.
"Okay, I'll have it ready maybe this Friday" I tell her. She gives me a twenty dollar bill and I put it inside my jeans pocket "then I'll see you till then here"
"Alright" she says, I take a step backwards when she suddenly asks "how's Wren doing?"
I stopped and play with strap of my backpack that was hanging out. Why was she even asking me that question? I wanted to just roll my eyes, flip her off, and simply walk away, but I knew better.
"He's doing great" I answered "why?"
"Well you know, with what happened?" She asked, referring to when she cheated on him.
"What did happen?" I asked, acting clueless "look I have to go, I'll give it to you on Friday"
With that I turned around and walked away from her. It was a thing that I'd make a poster for her, and another to pretend that we were friends and inform each other on Wren's feelings. I couldn't understand why she did it, Wren was a good guy, one a girl would kill to have by her side. He is well, yes, hot, and a gentlman, and cares about little stuff that other guys wouldn't. I turned to the hallway that would lead to the cafeteria, where I would meet up with Wren and Sam.
"So how was it with little miss cheater?" Sam asks me, I laugh a little and look at Wren, he is grinning.
"Well, she asked me about you" I said "she asked how you were doing"
"What did you say?" Sam asked impatiently, I shrugged and just took a fry away from Sam's plate.
"Well, I said he was doing great, and then she acted surprised and mentioned what had happened, I just acted as if I didn't know what she was talking about" I said "I wasn't about to tell her anything about Wren"
"That's my girl" Wren grinned and winked at me, I shook my head and took another fry from Sam's plate "so, how much did she pay?"
"She gave me twenty dollars" I took them out of my jeans pocket and placed them on the table. Wren whistled and pointed at me, his look said that he was thinking of a great idea, or plan.
"You know what you could do?" He asked, but didn't wait for an answer "Hazel, you paint really good, you could start doing posters for people or such and charge them, make your own web page or something so they will know"
"Hey, that's actually a pretty good idea Wren" Sam said "for a football player you aren't so stupid"
"Ha ha, so funny" Wren pinched Sam's nose and only received a punch from her, he winced and wiggled his arm "damn Sam, you're actually pretty strong"
