Dungeons and Doors

Tessa POV

I open my eyes to a pitch black room. At least what I'm assuming is a room, the walls are cold stone under my hands and the floor is much the same. I reach down for my blade and touch a soft silk material that I know isn't what I was wearing before. I try to scream but there's a tie in my mouth. My hands are shackled to the wall above me and my feet are free.

A light appears in the opposite corner of the room. I squint in the brightness and as the figure comes closer I see a small man appear.

"Miss Gray" he smiles a crooked yellow smile "how nice of you to join us"

I try to scream again

Will POV

I drop the piece of paper and step back.

"Will? Will what's wrong?" Charlotte says from her seat.

"It's her. The girl..." I shake my head "Tessa"

Charlotte picks up the paper and looks at me like she understands, because she does. She knows everything. I run out the room and grab a sword and dagger. I throw on a coat and head towards the door.

"Will! Will! You can't just leave! Where will you even look?" Charlotte says running after me

"I have to try Charlotte. I have to try."

Charlotte shakes her head "what is it about this girl?"

"I don't know but I won't let her die before I find out." I run out the door and into the street.

Tessa POV
The tie is ripped from my mouth by the man in shadows.

"What do you want with me?" I gasp

"I want to offer you everything. Give you everything. I want to make you happy"

I squint my eyes "you're off to a real good start mr..."

"Mortmain. It'll be your name one day so learn it quick girl."

I gasp. This is the man grandfather told me to be careful of. I spit at his shoe.

"We're going to have to get you etiquette lessons." He growls

"Get me whatever you like. I won't do what you want."

"I haven't told you what that is though"

"Doesn't matter. My mother told me that you can tell a man by his actions. And you Mr Mortmain are no man"

Mortmain tightens my shackles and leaves the room quickly.
