Chapter 4:

Once I saw first light, I was immediately energized! You see, the good thing about being an Angelic, is the fact that sun light gives you energy, especially if you low on it and/or exhausted for any given reason.  So, imagine how I felt when I saw First Light? I was ecstatic! Not a single problem all night long? Oh yeah, I was happy!

Seriah did not wake up until about 9:16 AM, according to my internal clock, and once she did, I knew because she rolled over onto her back, and stretched. But I didn’t know she was awake simply because she stretched, but because of how she stretched. She stood up and raised her arms high into the sky and all sixteen feet of her wings raised with them. High into the air, by the Ancient Ancestors she was beautiful! As I stared in admiration, she looks at me, “Is something wrong?” she asks.

Snapping out of it, I smile softly, “No, there isn’t anything wrong.” I say in a pleasant and warm voice. “I was just…”

“Staring.” She finished my sentence for me. “Why is that, if I may ask?”

Should I tell her? I mean, I think that after two years of pain and suffering, I deserved some type of happiness, right? No, I am on a mission and I intend to complete it. Then again, I did long for a friend. A true friend. But what if she leaves me…like My Aliyah? Then what? Besides, I don’t have time to fraternize with anyone, especially a rebel, for that matter. After all, she is in trouble with the LGS, and whenever the LGS personally sends me on a delivery mission, it is never for a good reason. She must’ve done something more than just become a simple rebel if she was able to get the attention the Big Guy; the Head Honcho.

“Um, DeGoro?” Seriah waves her hand to get my attention, “Are you still there?”

Once again, I snap out of my ‘trance’ and look at her, “I am sorry, did you say something?”

“Yes, “ she smiles a beautiful, capturing smile, “I did, and I asked why you were staring at me?”

“Oh! Yes, you did ask that didn’t you?” I laugh nervously.

“Yes, I did.” She says in a concerned voice. “DeGoro? Is something wrong?”

“No,” I lie.

“DeGoro?” she says in a stern voice, “Is something wrong?”

“No.”

“Why are you lying to me?”

“Am I that transparent? I need to work on that.” I laugh.

She laughs as well, then gets serious again, “Seriously, what is troubling you?”

She sounded as if she cared and the worst part is that she did care! She cared for me and that was great! However, bad news for me. Extremely bad news. This female, this Angelic has just met me not even twenty-four hours ago! More like, unh, 17 hours ago… more or less. Either way it goes, I cannot afford to be caught up in…in… oh never mind!

I sigh, “You,”

“Excuse me?”

“You are what is troubling me.” I admit this to her.

“And why is that?” she presses.

“You are really interested in this topic, are you not?”

“Yes, I am. Now answer my question, why am I the one that is troubling you?”

I pause before I answer her question, “Because I think that I am beginning to care about you.” I say in a cold tone.

“And that’s…bad?” she shrugs.
