I woke up and stretched out across my bed. I checked my phone. 7:00. An hour until I had to be at work at the bookstore. I rolled out of bed and padded to the kitchen in my socks.
My cat Gerald rubbed against my ankles lovingly and almost tripped me. I got him his food and made myself a coffee. I blew the steam off the top and sighed. Another day. I set my untouched coffee cup still steaming on the counter and left it there.
I got up and got dressed in my work clothes and grabbed my keys.
"Bye Gerald!" I called out to my cat. He didn't respond.
It was a normal day at the bookstore, a lot of people just walking through and trying to use the bathroom or to get in on the air conditioning with a good book. My boss Leslie called out to me.
"Rory I need you to put some more of these out they're selling out." My boss was nice enough with a wide smile and an air of patience around her no matter what happened.
"Sure thing." I said to Leslie and as she walked behind me she patted me on the back fondly. I had come to the bookstore since I was a kid, always reading in the corner and never buying because my family didn't have a lot of money. One day she approached me and offered me a job. "I need someone with a passion for reading." She explained to me. And from then on I had worked in the bookstore, even during the school year.
I walked over to the bookshelf and opened the box of books to see where I would have to put them.
Username:Evie by Joe Sugg. My best friend's future husband's book. I smiled to myself and started to put the books on the shelf. I got up to go back to the counter and I noticed a display of books with a big sign that said
Signing Today for the Caspar Lee Book!
I groaned. Hundreds of fangirls would come streaming into here, make a mess, and buy nothing and scare away the rest of our customers. Just perfect. As I walked away I bumped into a guy carrying a big camera with a mic and light on top of it. I started to fall and he caught me.
"Sorry." He said with an embarrassed smile.
"Don't worry about it." I told him. When I saw his face I gasped.
