We arrived at the carnival and I looked around in awe. The carnivals that came to our town were usually sucky with kids games and rigged games but this one was amazing.
A ferris wheel, a couple roller coasters, games that looked kind've easy, a tall ride that was on at night that showed you the city, and one of those spinning ufos that sticks you to the wall.
"What first?" Harry smiled.
I thought about it for a second. "That huge roller coaster", I pointed.
Harry's smiled widened and we both got out of the car, walking towards it. It really surprised me that I've only known Harry for 2 and a half days. We seem to act like we've been best friends forever. I just wish we were more than that. There was no denying that feeling I got around him, I was falling for Harry Styles.
"Ellie, were next", Harry smiled as the carts we sit in pulled up.
The man open the gates and we sat next to each other in the very first seats.
"I love roller coasters so much", I laughed, grabbing his hand absentmindedly.
Harry smiled and entwined his large fingers with my smaller ones. The familiar electricity shoots through me as I send him a smile back. I wonder if he feels the same way, if he believes that we can be a thing.
I frown at the knowledge that it'll never work. We never could work because of god damn cliques in school. I know for a fact Katie will murder Harry and I if we even think of loving each other.
"You ok, you look sad", Harry asked as the carts lurched forward, inching slowly up to the drop.
"Yeah, just thinking", I responded.
"About what?" He questioned.
"School. I know for a fact that Katie and all the other plastics won't let us even think of being friends", I mutter bitterly.
"Friends?"
"I just thought..."
He doesn't want to he friends with me? That hurt.
"You think you can handle being my friend? I think I'm too extreme for you", he smirked.
I sighed in relief, knowing that he was joking around.
I returned the smirk and raised an eyebrow. "Really now? And whats the most extreme thing you've done?"
"I've drown OUTSIDE the lines in grammar school before", he whispered as we reached the top.
"You little rebel", I playfully glared at him before we went down the drop.
We were instantly thrown forward, our harnesses holding us in the seats. I let out an excited shriek, throwing Harry and I's entwined hands into the air.
I heard him screaming out of sheer excitement too as we got to the loops and more stomach churning drops. The ride finally pulled to a stop and we were both laughing hysterically.
"Thats was AMAZING", Harry cheered.
I nodded and giggled.
"What next?" I asked.
"Lets go play some games", he smiled.
I nodded and started walking with Harry but soon he intertwined his fingers with mine, causing me to blush. It was like we were a couple, if only we were.
Harry's pov
After we started walking away from the ride I hesitantly intertwined our fingers again so I could hold her hand. A familiar electricity shot through my body as our hands touch. She made me feels ways no other girl ever has before. She's different, and I've fallen hard for her. If only I could call her mine.
I absentmindedly started to tickle her and instead of laughing she winced out of pure pain. Before she could object I lifted up her shirt to see why.
Just on her hips was a very bad and swollen bruise. It looked a couple days old but it was still very bad. I felt anger build up inside me. Who would touch her, hurt her?
"Harry", she sighed. "Don't worry about it."
"Who did this to you", I asked, trying to control my anger.
"Katie. I knocked over her nail polish in the locker room on Thursday and she beat me up. When I was on the ground she kicked me pretty hard in the side and it left a bad bruise. It's still a bit sore is all", Ellie shrugged like this is nothing.
"How could she do something this cruel to you?"
"She's been doing stuff like this for years. No one stopped her and she took that as an invitation to do worse. What you saw at Joey's funeral was the least worse thing she's done", she shrugged.
I felt sadness inside remembering that day. Ellie was crushed as she held her sister then Katie came over and said that she was worthless and made her cry and leave her own brother's funeral. Why didn't I stop her?
I felt the anger again but this time it was towards me. I always saw Katie bullying Ellie but I never did anything about it because she bullied everyone but I guess she bullied Ellie the worse.
"I will never, never, let anyone hurt you again", I said to her in a stern voice.
I saw tears form in her eyes. "No one's ever cared about me except Joey", she said quietly and smiled at me.
I returned the smiled and glanced over at a booth with a giant teddy bear wearing a blue varsity jacket like mine and had green buttons as eyes.
I smiled again and dragged Ellie over to it. The game looked pretty simple. Knock over the 6 pins and win the bear. I bought three baseballs and knocked them all down with two.
The woman handed me the bear which I gave to Ellie.
"No you'll always have me with you wherever you are", I smiled.
She hugged the bear then me. "Thank you Harry."
Ellie's pov
We decided to end the day in the giant view tower that brought you up at night. It was one giant class circle that was brought to the top and you could see the city lights and the lit up Golden Gate Bridge (A/N: They live in San Francisco) at night.
I sat down on a cushioned bench next to Harry and rested my head on his shoulder.
"This is the best view ever", I smiled, looking at all the lights of San Francisco.
"I think I have the best view", Harry laughed.
I glanced up to see him staring at me. "That's so fucking cheesy", I giggled.
"Yeah, well it's true."
I noticed Harry face inching closer to mine. Was he going to kiss me? Was I going to let him? What am I saying, of course I will.
My rambled thoughts were wiped out of my mind when his lips connected with mine and I could practically hear the fireworks.
My hands instantly wrapped around his neck, his on my waist. We both pulled away slowly and rested our foreheads together, his kiss lingering on my lips.
"Let me take you out to dinner", Harry whispered.
I smiled and nodded as the gymnast in my stomach did award-winning flips.
