Chapter Ten

"You found him?" I straighten, my eyes widening in shock when he nods in affirmation. "What? How? Where? How? What?"

"It would be easier if the twins told you." He replies, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. "Do me a favour E; can you say 'I allow Artemis and Apollo into the Underworld'?"

"What?" I stare at him dumbly. "Why?"

"Just say it Evie." He huffs impatiently, rolling his eyes. "It's not like I'm asking you to chop off your own hand."

"Okay, okay! I allow Artemis and Apollo into the Underworld." I say slowly, eyeing him dubiously.

"Thank you." He bows dramatically, and abruptly disappears from my view.

I jolt, glancing around the library in bewilderment.

What just happened?

Just when I'm about to spirit myself up to the surface and hunt Spencer down, he reappears in front of me, this time with Selene and a very disgruntled Axel in tow. Completely ignoring me and the utterly confused look on my face, Axel rips his hand out of Spencer's grip and glowers at the smirking blonde.

"Dude, never do that again."

"Aw Axel; your cruel words are almost too much for my poor, sweet heart." Spencer simpers. "I just wanted to hold your hand, babe."

"You call me babe again, and I'll break your face."

"Boys. Cut it out." Selene groans, clapping her hands in their faces. "You can flirt once we've rescued Hades, capiche?"

Axel turns his filthy gaze over to his twin. "We weren't flirting."

"You're breaking my heart over here Axel." Spencer pretends to sob into his hands, wiping away some fake tears. "I just want to love you."

"Guys!" I yell, slamming my hands down on my hips when they all look at me. "Where is my fiance?"

"In the Aegean ocean." Selene replies, shooting the boys an exasperated look.

I blink. "How did you-how?"

"Fish." She tells me simply. I do a double take, my brow furrowing in confusion.

"What?"

She chuckles. "When you told us about your dream, the fish you described stuck out to me. So, I did some digging, and found out that the particular type of fish you described - albeit, vaguely - are called blennies, and they're endemic to the Aegean Ocean. After I figured that out, it only took Dorian a couple of days to find Poseidon's palace."

I hum, pressing my fist to my mouth and trying not to let my next sentence sound too catty. "So why did you guys take a week to get back to me?"

Wow, that did not go to plan.

"Poseidon was on our asses the entire time; we're lucky we managed to make it out of our house without being decapitated." Axel says with an apologetic grimace. "We're sorry Evie, really."

"No, I'm sorry." I sigh, rubbing my face with my hand. "I'm being petty and whiny and unreasonable."

"No, you're not." Selene squeezes my shoulder. "You're just worried for Hades."

"Yeah, that's a vast understatement." I say with a breezy laugh. "So, what's the plan now?"

Axel exchanges a glance with the other two. "Well, we still need to find a way that'll allow us to travel down to his palace safe and unseen-"
