"hello."

"hello, stranger," she says playfully.

"yeah, about that. you see, i've been playing a lot of pokémon go."

she laughs. "you and just about the rest of the world."

"but i have an excuse."

"let's hear it then."

"my brother and his wife went on vacation and i was watching my niece and nephew. they made me do it."

"didn't you say your nephew is only a year old?"

"he's a strong little bastard. and he loves pokémon. i had no choice."

another round of laughter passes by her lips. "i'm sure that was horrible for you."

"you're right. it was awful," he says, amusement evident in his tone. "in all seriousness, it felt a bit wrong to phone in a sex hotline while watching my niece and nephew. that's why i haven't called."

her laughter quickly dies down and there's a short pause before she says, "yeah, i guess that's understandable."

"what have you been up to lately?"

she lets out a long breath. "school, work, repeat."

"do you have another job outside of this?"

"no. one of the main reasons i work this job is because of the flexible hours."

"school really takes up that much of your time?" he asks, slightly shocked by the news.

"yeah. something like that."
