Chapter 7

Kirino Pov:

I opened my eyes hesitantly as a voice woke me up.

It was Shikimaru. -.-

He was nagging me to wake up because its time to resume our mission. I tilted my head sideways and noticed that I was in the tent.

'How come I'm here? Didn't I fell asleep on a tree last night??' I thought 0.o Nahh...who cares anyway, it must've been Shikimaru who picked me back to the tent.

I turned my gaze to Shikimaru who was standing in beside me, annoyed.

I groaned and turned on my side so that my back was to him and murmured

"Give me 5 mintues k? Then I'll wake up."

Then I shut my eyes, and pulled my blanket over my head.

Shikimaru Pov:

'Urgh! What a drag. I knew she won't get so easily....she was never the morning type.' I thought angrily.

'Looks like I'll have to do this the hard way' I mumbled as I rolled my eyes and went out of her greenish tent.

The others already woke up and they're all packing their tents to have breakfast. I went passed them and walked to my bag. I grabbed my bottle and returned to Kirino's tent. As I expected, she didn't wake up even it's passed 5 minutes.

"Hey! time's up!" I yelled

"No...Shikimaru....another 5 minutes please...."came her sleepy reply.

I sighed heavily and uncapped my bottle. I leaned down to pull her green blanket off of her.

"What the-"

Before she could finish, I poured my bottle all over her. Making her soaking wet and of course wide awake.

Kirino Pov:

I felt my blanket being turned away.

"What the-" I started but before I could even finish cold water poured down onto me. I sat up quickly coughing out the water that went into my nose and mouth. Then I saw Shikimaru standing beside me looking rather bored.

"WHAT WAS THAT FOR? NOW MY CLOTHES ARE ALL WET!" I screamed my head off.

"That's what you get for sleeping late" came his innocent reply.

I was livid. Even if I a shy person, when it comes down to sleeping....it's a different matter. I walked toward him preparing to strangle him when Temari-San poked her head inside and told us to hurry cuz we're leaving soon for the mission.

"OK" I replied to her faking an eye-closed smile.

'U are lucky Skimimaru. I'll let it go just for this time.' I thought, glaring at Shikimaru.

Shikimaru wasn't even looking my way he was just staring off into space. This made me more mad but I controlled my anger and went to pack instead.

Shikimaru left the tent to eat breakfast outside.

When I'm done packing, I went outside. Everybody was sitting on logs eating rice balls. 'Yay! My favorite food!' ^^ Then I saw Hinata.

"Good morning" I said.

"Good morning! Kiri-chan" Hinata said handing me a rice ball.

"Arigato." I said as I took it and eat it.

I looked around...I didn't see Gaara and I was glad cuz I decided to not interact with hi, from this day on to prevent myself from falling for him again.

A moment later, Gaara appeared and announced that it was time to move again.

We got into our positions and head out.

Our mission was to go to the Hidden Village of the Mist to give an scroll to the Mizukage herself. Gaara didn't have to come since he was the Hokage but he insisted.

We were jumping from trees to trees. No one said anything so I didn't either.

Then I remembered that I should at least say thank you to Shikimaru for bringing me back to the tent last night.

I moved to his side and whispered.

"Hey....uh...thank you for carrying me back to the tent last night."

"What are you talking about?" He asked raising his thin eyebrow.

"So you weren't th-the one??" I stuttered.

"No..." He neglected.

"O-oh. It's ok. Nevermind" I said quickly, embarrassed and went passed him.

'Who did it?' I wondered. 'Could it possibly be HIM??...well...what if it is? Why do I care? It's not like he's my crush anymore' i lied to myself.

I glanced at Gaara and noticed that he was looking my way and quickly broke the gaze.

We traveled more a good 20 minutes when we saw the massive gate of the Hidden Mist Village.

"Finally! We're here." Kankuro screamed happily.

We quickly went in and were welcomed warmly by the Mizukage. The Mizukage was beautiful. She has long spiky auburn hair and a slender body.

Gaara gave her the invitation and bade her farewell. He said that he can't stay for long cuz he has loads of work to finish in the Sand.

The Mizukage frowned but still agreed and even accompanied us to the front gates.

During the whole mission, I didn't look at Gaara nor speak with him. He didn't even seem to care and it was kind of offensive.

While we were walking back to the Sand....Kankuro broke the silence.

"Hey I'm really exhausted Gaara....can we rest??" He said. I was glad that he brought it up cuz I was literally dying of exhaustion too.

"Stop complaining! You useless baka!" Temari-San shouted. I frowned.

"He's right, Temari" Gaara said with his impassive tone. "We've been traveling non-stop. We should rest for 20 minutes" he added.

"As you wish" Temari-San said defeated.

I signed and took down my pack and slumped down on the ground.

Gaara Pov:

We've been going for 5 hours. It'll be only a matter of time when we reach the San.

I went to tree and leaned on it. I closed my eyes and let my mind wander.

I heard someone laughing and I opened my eyes slowly. It was Kirino. She was giggling with Kankuro. I clenched my fist. I didn't know why but it makes me feel awkward when she keeps playing with other boys except me. Didn't she say that she didn't like to be close to boys??

After the day that I found her snoozing off in the woods,she started to ignore me and I think she's somehow friend zoning me. I didn't know why but it broke my heart. Did I do something wrong? I'll have to ask her and get to the bottom of this before she goes back to the leaf. (10 more days)

*20 minutes later*

Kirino Pov:

"Guys lets go" Gaara said.

I sighed and took my bag. We were getting ready when-

"GAARAAA!!!!!!!!!" Temari-san screamed.

I faced Gaara immediately, to see what was happening.

5 kunais came out of the woods and targeted Gaara's heart. My eyes widened but Gaara easily blocked it with his sand. I relaxed but then Shikimaru shouted.

"EXPLOSIVE TAGS!!!!!"
