Cameron glared at me.
"This is all your your fault you know. If you had just chipped in a little more, we could have gotten a hotel suite instead of this shit shack. God, you're so selfish, Kat,"
I rolled my eyes.
"I paid the same as everyone else. You on the other hand, didn't pay anything, you entitled little brat. You're lucky to be here,"
She tried to stare me down the point that out faces were almost touching. The air was so thick you'd have to cut through it with a chainsaw. Cameron pulled away and flipped her hair back, walking towards the hostel.
"Celebs. Never. Pay."***
I walked up to the front desk with Sam to rent the tents for our stay. Behind the counter, a towering giant of a man with a man-bun and what looked like a pet echidna stuck to his face grunted out a greeting to us.
"Hi, we're gonna need four tents for one night," Sam said expectantly.
"K. $40 for four tents," he said, his beard making it look like he wasn't moving his mouth at all.
I pulled Sam to the side for a second.
"Dude, it's way more expensive than the website said. We should just double up and just get two,"
Her face fell.
"You're right. But u realize that means you have to sleep in the same tent as Cameron, right?"
"What?" I exclaimed, "why me?"
Because neither of you can share with Evan, he's a dude. Its ok for me though, I'm his sister,"
I glared at her. I knew this was only because she didn't want to get stuck with Cameron herself. Eventually, I sighed and looked at the bearded man, then back at Sam.
"If one night in hell means food tomorrow, I can tough it out for at least a little while."
She nodded at me, then went back to the bearded man, requesting two tents for the night. He nodded and thrust the keys out at her. Sam took both keys and tossed one to me, mouthing a silent 'good luck' as she walked past, seeing as Cameron and Evan had just come into the room.***
When I came out onto the camp grounds, Sam, Evan and Cameron were already there, trying to get a fire started. Evan was placing nearby logs into a pile and Sam was continually throwing matches onto the wood, eventually tossing the box into the pile out of frustration and getting out her cigarette lighter. All the while, Cameron was playing 2020 on her phone. Selfish bitch.
After Evan and Sam eventually got a healthy fire going, Beardy came outside with a sixpack of beer.
"On the house. Because your friend is cute," he mumbled gruffly, gesturing towards Evan, before scurrying back to his hole, blushing hard.
We all took a beer and began to talk. After a while, Sam the Addict brought out some wine coolers she bought on the way down and everyone's life stories started spilling out like dropped groceries. We found out that Sam had dated our science teacher for a brief period last year, we found out that Cameron saw her parents porking when she was six and it scared her for life, and we even found out that Evan giant tattoo of Scarlett Johansson on his butt. I even showed them my third nipple. After getting well and truly hammered, we all retired to our tents. I had to walk Cameron back to our tent anyway because she was too drunk to walk. When we got inside and zipped up the tent, her drunken slurs turning into real sentences.
"You know Kat, you're really not that bad. I regret calling you a dyke behind your back,"
"Hey that's ok, we're all good now," I said, pulling you her for a quick bro hug.
"I don't know why I hated you. You're a cool lesbian,"
"Dude, I'm b-" before I could finish my sentence, Cameron cut me off by smashing her lips against mine. My eyes stayed open in shock and I eventually got the courage to pull away as she tried to slip her tongue into my mouth. I ran straight out of my tents and into Sam's, a string of barely coherent sentences escaping my mouth.
"OMYFUCKINGODSAMCAMERONISGAYTHATSWHYAHEHATESGAYPEOPLESHEKISSEDMEIDONTKNOWHATTODOPLEASEHELPMEEE...." I said, slumping down in her arms. Sam tried comforting me and sighed.
"Okay. I'll sleep with her tonight, just get some rest, okay?"
I nodded gratefully, watching her slip out the tent. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey, you okay?" Evan asked, slightly amused by the whole ordeal. I breathed heavily and fell back on top of him, pushing us both to lay on the sleeping-bag covered ground. He sighed with content and rested his chin on the top of my head. Then we both fell asleep.***
When I woke up , it was completely dark in the tent. I reached over to Sam's phone beside me and checked the time. 3:47 am. I tried to get up to go use the bathroom, but something was holding me down. I looked beside me to see Evan, with his arm wrapped tightly around my waist, sleeping peacefully. I smiled and lay my head back down to sleep.
To be continued, yet again..,
