Soulmates? Soulmates.

Nineteen-year-old James was walking down a street in downtown Chicago. He knew it was the day one of his clocks stopped, but he didn't care to know when exactly it was until after the clock stopped. It was for that reason that he'd blanketed his tattoos with a tied-on teal handkerchief.

He was passing by a coffee shop when he made eye contact with someone across the street, and that's when it happened. All at once there was a tingling feeling in his covered-up left wrist and the world burst from black and white to brilliant color.

James ripped off the handkerchief and saw that the topmost tattoo had turned from a ticking clock to the small, black outline of a heart.

He looked up to see the person he'd made eye contact with had joined him outside the coffee shop.

"Hello," said the young man, who seemed to be twenty at most. "My name is William."

"James," James replied, shaking William's proffered hand, spotting a small heart between two tattoos.

James also noticed a teal handkerchief matching his own in William's right hand, and smiled, saying, "I suppose we're soulmates, then?"

William replied with a smile, "Soulmates."
