Poltergeist

You came along to fraternize,

I let you in without rhyme or reason,

But when the walls started to break

I realized, you caused the perturbance.

With cold hands, I reached up to you,

And you bent over above me,

Only to laugh at my face,

And then leave me resed.

I sat there cupping my body, alone,

Waiting for you to take me in your arms,

But you turned away to avoid the pitiful sight,

And left me cold as ice.

I wish you could understand

What you meant to me,

And why I was belligerent with the whole world,

And I wish you could see above your pride,

And see me more than a hick to your esteem.
